Luke ignored Yoda's warning, rashly ran off to face Vader, and attacked him in anger trying to save his friends. He's pretty much a mini-version of Anakin.

No, I don't need to watch them again. Padme doesn't do anything for her own sake in AotC, except pick a lock. Being an 'action girl' with a blaster doesn't actually make her a character with any depth or motivation. She's simply a plot device of Anakin's story and undermines her previously established character. Doesn't help that she's dressed up in sexy outfits for no reason. Who wears a catsuit to a funeral?

Strongly disagree that Yoda and the Jedi's dogmatic nature had nothing to do with Anakin turning, or that Anakin not listening to Yoda was part of the problem. Yoda and Mace Windu constantly made Anakin feel unwanted and unwelcome, made it seem like such a hassle to even deal with him, acted like his age was more important than his obvious raw talent, and after centuries of detachment Yoda couldn't comprehend Anakin's very real feelings for Padme or his mother and dismissed his fear of loss as inconsequential, leaving the grieving, scared young man with nowhere to turn but Palpatine. Yoda didn't care about Anakin's background, that was a big part of the problem. None of the Jedi could adapt to Anakin being a little different and actually caring for people like any other being ever, and constantly made him fight himself over his own nature. Anakin didn't just fall, the Jedi gave him a push.

    Vader's not seen on Tatooine.

In ANH he doesn't go down to the planet, it's his home planet yet he shows no affinity for it.
RotJ, Boba Fett has taken Han to be mounted on Jabba's wall, surely in ESB when Vader hands Han over he knows Boba's collecting the bounty from Jabba. Yet once again there's no mention of the fact that he's familiar with the Hutts.

It's almost as if he wasn't born on Tattooine and his back story was created after these incidents!! Hmmm??

I think the following phenomenon qualifies: Every time I watch AOTC, I really really want to like the film. And there is enough in there to like, sure enough. But every single time they get to Naboo and Padme and Anakin start their insipid "romance", I say out loud to myself "This is the worst Star Wars film". You know, the "sand" speech and the rolling-in-the-grass... I so want to enjoy the film, but that always takes me out of it.

Runners-up: The replacement of Sebastian Shaw with Hayden Christensen in Jedi. And, before they finally fixed it for the Blu-Ray release, that black blob on the Emperor's face/hood in Jedi always bugged me. (Know what I'm talking about?)

    1. Anything Jar Jar
    2. "Yipppeeeeeeeee!"
    3. The overdone political dialogue of TPM.
    4. Oh hell, The Phantom Menace
    5. The cheesy love dialogue in AOTC
    6. The Younglings in AOTC coming up with the Kamino answer (as well as them training with their baby lightsabers)
    7. The droid factory scene in AOTC
    8. Anakin jumping out of the speeder and falling all the way to land directly on the ship he wants
    9. That silly scene of Obi and Anakin twirling their sabers at each other in blinding speed in the ROTS fight
    10. Chewie not getting his medal in front of everyone
    11. Greedo now shooting first
    12. Ewoks throwing rocks onto the Stormtroopers
    13. That stupid Special Edition Rondo stepping in front of the landspeeder in an important scene
    14. The failed comic relief of the speeder almost crashing into a Rondo and the Jawa hanging off
    15. The failed comic relief of Threepio's head on the battle droid
    16. As a kid I remember wishing Han would also get on a speeder bike and kick ass.
    17. Hayden replacing Shaw at the end of ROTJ

Yeah, I guess I needed to rant LOL.

At least the musical number made some sense in the context of the story. Jabba's a crime lord who thinks he is a king, and he's holding court and demands to be entertained. Having music and dancing and so on seems reasonable, even if it was pretty hokey for the film's audience to deal with. It's why I give RotJ a pass on sexualising Leia: at least there was a reason for stuffing her in a bikini, and it wasn't presented as a good and happy thing. Still don't know what Lucas was on when he picked Padme's costumes for Attack of the Clones. Viagra, possibly.

That cgi music number "Jedi Rocks"?? with the max Rebo band was probably my biggest pet peeve with ROTJ. It didn't look realistic ( the screamong lips close up)and the song was stupid, especially coupled in with puppets from 1983. I have to fast forward through that scene every time i watch it. I liked the 70s disco vibe going on. I did not care for the cgi Sarlacc either, i liked the original. ROTJs effects werent perfect but they should have been left alone for the most part.

When Shmi Skywalker is buried next to Clegg Lars' leg. Padme is already in her 'combat' super tight white catsuit that turns into a belly shirt by kitty magic in the arena. Because that's what a Senator would wear to a funeral.

I actually like those scenes and really wished GL would've kept the deleted scenes with Padme's family. AOTC is a good Star Wars film and doesn't deserve the flak it gets.

I actually have no idea what you're talking about. That's a good enough excuse for me to watch ROTJ tonight! At what part are you talking about?

"Anakin and palpatine just walking through Palpatines office, not saying anything, but then once John Williams musical cue ends and the camera moves closer, they suddenly pick up an important conversation out of nowhere." Or it´s just continuation of conversation that already started off-screen before they went silent for a moment.

"Ani and Padme are sitting on the couch by the fire in AOTC, just kind of staring around for the duration of the establishing shot" Same thing.

Favorite pet peeve? Okay. I suppose how arrogant Force users are: Sith and Jedi. That trips up both parties big time.

Ah, thread necro. Not big on the word "pet peeve," it's a nails on the chalkboard thing, but here we go anyway.

--Padme "losing the will to live." I lost the will to ever watch that movie again.

--"I pledge myself to your teachings. Just tell me how to save Padme, I can't live without her." Sure. First take your ginkgo biloba, it might afford you some desperately-needed IQ points.

--"I'm in charge of security here, milady!" I'm sure your Fisher Price toys need guarding in the playroom.

--the Anakin/Obi-Wan argument in Padme's apartment. Both of them needed to go in timeout, and Jar-Jar should have the honor of sending them.

--Luke in Yoda's hut on Dagobah. "We're wasting our time!" Um, Yoda, if you need any unsolicited advice, I hear only putting a few pieces of food on the high chair tray at a time, keeps the kid from throwing it as easily.

That doesn't make sense, depending on what distance you are viewing them from one could easily look larger than the other.

Not that much though. Justifying both shots where Endor looks "11 times as wide as the DS2" and shots where Endor looks "100 times as wide as the DS2" with the larger shots being the close in ones, just doesn't work.

    Example:

    close-in shot:

The hologram of the DS2 and Forest Moon together is consistant with an 11:1 size ratio (and the "more like 500 miles in diameter" statement from an ILM staffer):

The Deathstar, I think, will be a lot more interesting than the one in the first Star Wars — mainly because it is under construction ... Plus, it will be MUCH bigger. In Star Wars, it was really difficult to establish the scale. It was supposed to be miles in diameter, but with a full sphere it was hard to tell. The new one is supposed to be more like five hundred miles in diameter, but since we're not dealing with a sphere all the time, we'll be able to establish landmarks and get a better sense of scale." - Richard Edlund, CINEFEX (July 1983).

was consistent with a Forest Moon that is close to Earth-sized (which is necessary for it to support life, for scenes in the film to look like they're taking place in Earth-normal gravity, etc).

However, all the "close in" shots of the battle, suggest a DS2 that's much smaller relative to the Forest Moon - more like 1/100 the diameter.

Problem is, for it to appear 10 times as big as it "really" is (the Ackbar shot - with the hologram excused as being Not To Scale), it needs to be 10 times as close to the camera as the Forest Moon is - and that's not really compatible with the orbital shots either.
