A macebell would be better. I learned how to use them from one of your fellow countrymen, a Mr Paul Wolkowinski.

In other news, I'm starting to believe in the ancient Greek notion of the nomen omen. The RMT have a spokesman with the surname Leach.

So you're asking Public schools to educate the masses now? Is there a university course in Train Driving?

I love that a privately-educated Toff Labour socialist is pushing the anti-private schooling sentiment. Gosh.

Thing that gets me? His name is Tristram. No-one named Tristram would live past the age of 14 in a state school. The name alone screams privilege.

I met a fair few of those types while I was at Uni. I chose my college on the basis of the director of studies for my subject, but it was the lefty college. It even had a hammer & sickle painted on the wall of the bar. Funnily enough, being a bit rough around the edges and having been to a state school made me even more unpopular than my belief in small government.

The dragon looks suspiciously Welsh to me, Ender Sai!

It's a wyvern sir, and I fear it probably has a name like Breckin or Camelyn and sings beautifully in close harmony with other wyverns.

So it is, old chap, so it is. The curl of the tail left me with an impression of four legs. I'm going to go ahead and assume it's from Wessex; shielded from the Welsh by the Severn.

Having said that, Welsh dragons can be quite charming, as evidenced by this documentary:

Once again, folks of the YJCC, I call upon you to support the latest London tube strike.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-33416289

The brave men and women who keep this city's underground transport network tiger free have been offered a pitiful 2% payrise and £2000 uplift for occasional night shifts now that certain lines offer a 24 hour service. This would mean that the standard salary, not including overtime paid at enhanced rates, will leave these heroes earning only slightly more than an architect or a dentist (although with much better pension, benefits such as £4000 worth of free travel and far more generous annual leave entitlement).

These stalwarts of health and safety and scourge of tigers that would otherwise eat Londoners to death are only paid more than 50% more than paramedics, firemen and other folk who work occasional night shifts even before the uplift. This is an outrage. What is saving lives compared to sitting in a cabin playing games on a mobile phone? What is rescuing people from a burning building compared to being surly when very occasionally called upon to engage with one's customers?

I'm also reliably informed that there has been no movement toward fashioning the button that a tube driver may be called upon to push (that being the entirety of their job) from solid 24ct gold.

Our tube drivers have been hopelessly let down, please show your support.

Denied. That would mean supporting something British that isn't James Bond or Chumbawamba.

Without tube drivers courageously falling asleep in their cabins because their job has already been automated, the entire network would be overrun with tigers.

They absolutely deserve a basic salary of £52,300 a year with a £500 'transition bonus', a £2000 bonus for maybe having to work an occasional night shift, a further 2% payrise, £4000 worth of free travel, employer pension contributions of over £15,000 a year, double time when they have to work on Sundays, triple time for certain bank holidays and obscenely generous holiday entitlement. Multiply all amounts by 1.54 if you work in USD.

In fact, they deserve much more, hence the strikes.

The only thing that isn't automated in a tube train is one button for use in emergencies. Because of this, the button should be made of gold with some kind of platinum trim. It will help keep London's underground system free of large, man-eating felines. Also, getting paid as much as - say - a surgeon who's been through at least 7 years of medical school and has a solid few years' experience behind them is - frankly - insulting. I think we need to look at bringing tube driver salaries in line with something like exec director in a FTSE 100 company.
