Index Authors open to PM Concrit [List]

Just a thought, but seeing concrit in story threads may give prospective newbies the impression that all of fanfic is open to concrit and not just the people on this list.

 

That's why the "PM only" option is available, I would imagine.

(Not that I'm writing a lot at the moment - real life is getting in the way right now! But I plan to be back with some new projects in a few months )

I agree. New people rarely go and read the rules until they break the rules and then they go and check it out. If I was new and saw a person giving concrit to a person on the list, and I didn't know there was a list, then I would assume that type of review is okay to give to everybody. I guess it would only take a few moderator interventions to get everybody on board, but meanwhile you may have hurt feelings.

My suggestion is for it all to be via PM or if you are going to give concrit in the thread you preface your statement with, "Since you are on the concrit list..." This way the newbies realize there is a list somewhere. That is just my opinion on the matter.

 

I think I will advise that I have read something in the thread, and if my review was going to feature advice, advise that I was unable to provide feedback unless they are on this list.

 

Alternatively, couldn't authors put in their little introduction "on the concrit list" or some such thing?

 

Alright so, after talking it over with Mav, we have agreed that the simplest, clearest solution is to move all concrit to PMs only. I will amend the opening post accordingly.

Please feel free to continue to add your name, so that people feel comfortable PMing you.

 

If the feedback is going to be all positive, does it go on PM or in the story thread?

 

If it's all positive (things you really liked, thought worked well etc.) , as always have been allowed, it can remain in the thread. We don't want to discourage not having in thread comments. It's comments on things that could be improved that should go into a PM.
