Biggest surprises: Laura Dern is in it, and Maz is coming back!

 

One thing we've yet to consider is that Rey is a time travelling Shmi*. Rian Johnson's involvement makes it very likely.

*Or, rather, Shmi was a time travelling Rey all along.

 

Shmi is time travelling Rey who is Luke's daughter.

I think the film starts out later, with the bad guy scene, then flashes back to Luke and Rey during her training scenes.

 

It works. And Threepio is Donny, really. Always being told to shut up and all.

 

I'd find flashbacks a little weird. They're not very . . . Star Warsy.

I think they've probably just been standing on the top of that hill looking at each other for two years.

 

Personally, when I think Jeff Bridges, I think of him in TRON, The Giver, and True Grit. That sort of role.
