    I wrote

If he held the rank of captain (two dots) than commander would be the higher rank (three dots, e.g. Luke Skywalker on Hoth).

Pulled my old rank badge notes and data and have to correct myself, everything is fine with Cassian Andor holding the rank of captain.

    2 red dots = captain
3 blue dots = commander (e.g. Luke in ESB)
3 red dots = major (e.g. Derlin in ESB)
5 blue dots = colonel (e.g. Captain Antilles and Ristt / "Hudsol")
5 red dots = general (e.g. Dodonna and Rieekan)
4 red dots, 1 blue dot = high general or fleet admiral (e.g. General Willard)

(bear in mind it's based on a mixture of army and naval ranks and therefore is not entirely compatible with our rank structures / methodology)

I think they are just flipping the script on the Han-Leia dynamic with Cassian and Jyn. Like Leia, Cassian will be the more straight-laced but wholly focused-on-the-mission rebel who's committed years to the Alliance already, while Jyn will be the capable and roguish, unpredictable wildcard like Han.

I hope it's Cassien Andor. . . It's a stronger name. Willix sounds like a dweeb, like a techy or computer specialist. Not a captain.

For my taste "Willix" reminds me way too much of the EU creations I constantly try to forget: E.g. "Walex Blissex"

There was no emphasis on "x", "y" or "z" in the original OT names, but somehow the folks at West End Games thought such names (and those difficult to pronounce) would be cool.

Cassian Andor is far better than Cassian Willix.

I kind of prefer Willix, honestly. But I like them both, so no complaints either way.

I guess he plays a similar role as the military guy in Alien 2, who was quite loyal to Ripley. ;)

Yeah, I think Andor is a much stronger name than Willex. I'm really liking what they're saying about his character so far too.

So this is the description for Andor: Andor is a by-the-book Rebel intelligence officer, brought in to steady the volatile Erso, but he’s no square. He’s committed, steady, and practical, and has seen more than his share of combat. “He conveys a fair amount of experience and the reality of what it’s like to do this every day, to try to figure out how to resist the Empire effectively and intelligently,” says Kiri Hart, Lucasfilm’s chief of story development. “It’s not easy.”

So my guess is that he's the guy who, when Jyn says "Hey, let's do this," he says, "Here's why that won't work." What makes me believe that is "the reality of what it's like to do this every day." He's got experience. He knows. Jyn's just a streetwise criminal who's got some good blows in against the Empire but ultimately, doesn't know tactics. My guess is that's Andor's job.

I'm glad he's going to be a no-nonsense type of person but i would also want him to crack a couple of jokes.

    "Rebel Soldiers Assemble
Here we see Diego Luna's Capt. Cassian Andor in the beach battle alongside some fellow Rebel soldiers — all of them human. From the original trilogy, we know a great many creatures also joined the Rebellion. Did those species line up and follow the lead of the humans after the events of Rogue One? Or have we just not seen some of the aliens who will join this battle? Director Gareth Edwards says there are at least two background creatures who fight with the squad, but they aren't major characters. "They're not necessarily front-and-center," he says, before joking: "But maybe one day, there'll be a spinoff movie."

    Jyn and Cassian
In the era of fandom 'shipping, it's only a matter of time before people start drawing hearts around Jyn and Cassian. The filmmakers say he's the reliable, stable one who counters her loose-cannon tendencies, sort of Murtaugh to her Riggs. (There's probably a fandom out there who 'ship the two Lethal Weapon characters, too.)[...]"

If (hah, when) Jyn and Cassian get 'shipped, I think "Ersandor" sounds better than "Jassian" or "Cyn." So I'm going to start using Ersandor.

Edit: To clarify, I don't particularly care to 'ship them, but I hate 'ship names that sound stupid, so I'd rather use one that rolls off the tongue well than a terrible-sounding one. But I don't think R1 needs a romantic subplot, so I don't 'ship them.
