Sure was, confirmed a couple of times in the last 24h by Pablo Hidalgo on Twitter.

I'm not sure why they didn't name it though. Most of the locations were named.

Yeah that was why I wasn't sure. It better not have been because they want to avoid the prequels... I think most people would say RotS was the best of three regardless of their opinions on those movies.

Did anyone notice one of Saw's rebels had a black Scout Trooper helmet? Possible reference to Shadow Squadron/old canon Commandos?

Nah, I think thejeditraitor is right. We would have read "Mustafar" and immediately think "ah, pretty sure we'll see Vader now." Kinda kills the suspense.

Don't forget 'pug nose' guy and his walrus man friend that bump into Cassian on Jheda. Hmm, they must have been headed to their ship, as the planet was destroyed shortly thereafter, and unbeknownst to them, they had a future rendezvous with a young Luke in Mos Eisley.

 

Whoa calm down! I never said they did, I don't think they 'hate' them at all (otherwise half the cameos mentioned in this thread wouldn't have been in the film)! Still, doesn't help that most media articles/videos I've read say they want to move away from that era, does it?
I hadn't even considered the implications on suspense in the film. Thought Mustafar looked pretty inactive compared to how it was in RotS haha, probably another thing they did deliberately to not make it so obvious!

In the opening scene on the trading outpost there were some tall beings completely clad in red with visors akin to the Royal Guards, was that a reference of sorts? I had to look twice, took me aback at first!

 

I thought at one point it was supposed to be Ezra Bridger. Pretty sure it's not.

 

Chopper can be seen on the base at Yavin - keep your eyes on the left of screen during the scene where the Alliance finds out that the Rogues are attacking Scarif. Pretty sure you can hear him, too.

 

Mouse droids.

 

They spent a whole scene on Mustafar lol. I don't think they're shy of the prequels.

 

I'm going to look out for it, but how is it clear its chopper and not another R-whatever that we're used to? Are his arms sticking out?

 

I am not sure about this one but maybe someone else knows.
I'm sure I heard Mark Hamill at the Rebel base as the announcer just like in ESB.

 

Not sure it counts as an Easter egg, but the planet of Wobani is an anagram of Obi Wan!

The only other thing I'm thinking about as a possible Easter egg was the other projects Jyn was listing - are they anything meaningful? When she said "Black" I thought it was going to be "Black Sun" but it was "Black Saber".

 

I thought exactly the same thing.

Also, I noticed an imperial probe droid float past in the background at Jedha City.

 

It's the Chopper they use in Rebels Recon.

 

Nicest cameos were Red and Gold leaders, even if the footage didn't match in our screening. Still a real nice touch.

Vader's castle is straight out of concept art going back to Empire or Jedi.

I'd add the following as eggs too:
Moisture vaporators at the Erso family home (I guess we should call them something different now?)
Rebel watchman in his tower on Yavin IV
General Dodonna! (played by, if I'm not horribly mistaken, GOT's Ser Barristan Selmy)
NotAckbar's command deck swivel chair (weee!)
The prison door at Saw's base (just like Jabba's palace)
Rebel fighters blowing up one of the Star Destroyer's shield generators

There's bound to be so much more, RO is a love letter to Star Wars. I bet there's a ton of stuff in the background of Mobani and Jedha.

 

Apparently the Ghost can be seen on Yavin IV when Jyn initially arrives to the left of the screen docked.

 

I didn't see Porkins. I'm sure he's hidden in there somewhere. I'll look closer next time.

 

Not really Easter Eggs though, most of them are just continuity.
