Social The Socks Welcome Thread

Victoria Skywalker, nope there's not a number limit of socks. The only things you need to keep in mind is that you need a new email adress for each sock and that the socks have to behave as well (if not, it will be noted to your main account).

This thread goes back awhile, before I joined but I suspect that since we generally accept socks (i.e., alt accounts) except where the primary user account is banned, we might as well have a thread that welcomes them.

Skiara Do you know any other history on this.

 

In the very beginning it was decided that sock-accounts are ok - unless it's against the ToS (like being banned on the main one or talking to oneself using socks or so). In the old times it was a big fun to create socks, many many socks, and to use them. Some had so many that mods stopped counting. Some socks were similar at one point or had a certain line in the signature, so other user had a chance to find out who it is originally. It was fun! Similar to the "challenge" to post as many edits as possible within the edit time with a real conversation going on with it. I've watched it in FanForce Community.

Since all are equal and so are socks (said with a ), they got allowed their own welcome thread. But solely one! Because in WNU it's not allowed to create various welcome threads - neither with the main account nor with socks. The reason for this is, that it's not fair to old user to pretend to be a new member and possibly needing help, while being experienced already. Exception: If a user disappeared a long time and comes back, then it can be fine to post an 'welcome back' thread.
