I think Rogue One has given AoR - the previously least used of the roleplaying games - a massive shot in the arm. Which I approve of.

So, I've mapped out the first real arc for my characters. I'll start writing those beats shortly. But in order to learn of the genophage, the team need to extract a former Imperial senator who has learned of the Empire's dark secret. Following the destruction of Alderaan and the dissolution of the Senate, many conservative Senators fell under ISB suspicion for their adherence to traditions inconsistent with Palpatine's new order/the Tarkin doctrine.

One such senator, the Senator for Naboo, has made contact with the Rebels and asked for help defecting.

I love how the first standalone is an Age of Rebellion campaign, and the second is going to be an Edge of the Empire campaign

Got my Heroes of the Resistance and U-wing today. I'm still fairly new to X-wing, and in fact these are my first large base ships, I also don't follow the meta and watch videos on how to play matches. Still most of the guys (only guys) I'm playing with are fairly casual so I can keep up with them.

So far nobody has been able to use the U-wing's potentional for being a bumper though, and the U-wings have been shot down early in the matches. I'm hoping to build a list where it's such an obvious target that I can just place in the middle and people will come for it. The only problem is that I'm quite an aggresive player, so I'm not sure that I will be able to passively wait for other ships to come to me. I'm probably the best in our group when it comes to bumping though, so I'm hoping that the U-wing will be a fun ship to fly.

Don't play Imperial Assault but I just love the fact more comic characters, in this case BT and 0-0-0 are appearing in other products and the figures actually look good.... (Aphra is in the tablet game SW Force Arena) and well who doesn't love Hera + Chopper?

I think what makes the U-Wing vulnerable is that it's big, fragile for a large-base, arc-dependent, and pretty easy to hit. The TIE Striker, released as its opposite number, throws out more attack dice than it can defend against. I think the U-Wings might get fun when people start fielding a bunch of them. I played against, and lost to, a 4 U-Wing list on Vassal flying TIE Defenders. I got two of them, but their ability to control my moves by bumping and still taking some time to kill carried the day in the end.

It's not a strong ship, but it should hold for a while. At the moment my favorite list is a Heavy TFA Chewie with two A-wings, and I would love to switch the A-wings for U-wings, but I haven't been able to squeeze a Falcon and two U-wings into a list, without making them too weak. Chardaan refit is the only reason I get the A-wings into the list and A-wings starts at a lower cost than the U-wing.

I just got my copy of Friends Like These and there are heaps of juicy tidbits. Fleet Junkies especially will find a lot to love. I haven't been able to give it more than a casual skim but here's some of the details that stood out for me.

    - There's a new Gladiator II-class Star Destroyer called the Blood Ambition, which serves as part of the Tolonda Oversector's naval forces. In explaining the difference between models, it notes that the Gladiator I-class was conceived of as a Star Destroyer escort in the heavy battle lines of the Clone Wars, while the Gladiator II-class came about when the Empire repurposed the design to serve as an independent, long range patrol craft. Interestingly, the ship is described as 600 m long, making it longer than the 500 m Gladiator I-class.
    - A couple of Raider II-class corvettes also make an appearance. Those TIE-style wings are indeed massive solar panel wings, which it uses in place of an on-board reactor, minimising space for power generation and storage to make room for additional systems. Earlier models possessed cluster missile launchers for engaging Rebel fighter squadrons, although these were later replaced by ion cannons in the newer model, which also includes an experimental jammer that disrupts sensors and comms.
    - When the New Mandalorians took over and exiled warriors to Concordia, some who kept the old ways instead chose to resettle on Condord Dawn, Ordo, Gargon, and Vlemoth Point, among others. These "Old Mandalorians" were not members of Death Watch and instead preferred to find work as bounty hunters and mercenaries like they always had.
    - The Mandalorians who resettled on Vlemoth Point belong to Clan Awaud (from the EGTW), and also includes members of Clan Beroya (from SWTOR).
    - There's confirmation that after Queen Miraj Scintel was overthrown during the Clone Wars, her Prime Minister who betrayed her, Atai Molec, became King and maintains that post under the Empire.
    - The ancient Zygerrian Slave Empire, at the height of its power, extended from Argazda down the Salin Corridor, and spanned the entire Triellus Trade Route all the way down to Ryloth. They supplied slaves for the Chevins of Vinsoth and the Hutt Empire.
    - Under the Empire, the Zygerrians made a deal to restrict their slaving operations to the Outer Rim in exchange for amnesty from Imperial sovereignty, with satellite outposts on Kowak and (I think?) Shaltin.
    - A lot of casual namedropping of planets, including a businessman-cum-slaver from Raithal, and the Imperial prisons on Bundil.

I'm tempted to pick up some of the Imperial Assault minis, even though I have no desire to play the game itself. I'm a sucker for miniatures. How well do these scale with Warhammer 40k minis? Are they around the same size? I checked google and I can't find any comparison images.

The art is absolutely gorgeous. Fandalorians are especially in for a treat, since most of the best pictures include them in some way. I've had another flick through and found some more tidbits.

    - Located in the Ferra sector, Xorrn is a lot like its neighbour, Hypori. It's a desert world where a hive of Geonosians were transplanted to construct a secret droid foundry for the Confederacy. The only difference is that the rock couldn't be build upwards to form a proper hive spire, so they had to tunnel downwards, creating deep shafts into the surface.
    - When the Republic discovered the planet during the Clone Wars, it was the site of multiple battles, before losses became too costly and the Republic Navy decided to bombard the surface. A number of Lucrehulk-class core ships were on the surface at the time to pick up droids and were destroyed, forming a vast core ship graveyard. Wrecks from both sides can be found above and on the planet, with a crashed Acclamator-class assault ship on the surface named the Sentinel.
    - The planet was abandoned and forgotten, before being resettled after the Clone Wars by a group of former Separatist sympathisers from Gall. During the Clone Wars, Gall's council of elders chose to join the Separatists, but the naval supply depot was too important to lose so the Republic laid siege to the planet and reclaimed it.
    - These settlers from Gall used the foundries to set up an illegal shipyard, hidden inside the gutted shell of an Acclamator-class in orbit. It only really repairs and modifies ships rather than building them, primarily servicing ships that can't dock in Imperial-controlled ports. They service the Rebel Alliance, the Hutts, the Zann Consortium, and other criminals. It's called the Ferra Sector Shipyard, a grandiose name designed to keep the Empire looking elsewhere for what it's led to believe is a much larger facility.
    - One of the ships being serviced is the Icarii-7, a 500-metre long Corellian Engineering Corporation BT-900 bulk transport. I'm not sure if this is an entirely new ship or one mentioned in a previous FFG sourcebook. It's commanded by the Togruta pirate captain Skahvi Renlow, who you can convince to serve as a Rebel privateer in the adventure. A follow-up adventure seed at the end of the sourcebook mentions him leading a prison raid on a space station in the Bundil system.
    - The pair of Raider-class corvettes I mentioned earlier which are among the fleet dispatched to conquer Xorrn are the Sargantuan and the Warhawk.
    - Vlemoth was purchased decades before the Clone Wars by Vlem Hill of the Intergalactic Banking Clan, due to its undersea volcanoes pushing precious metals to the surface. The IGBC secretly capped the volcanoes and mined them, similar to their smokers on Muunilinst.
    - The city of Sanshur Flats produced missiles for IGBC Hailfire droids, leading the Empire to nationalise the planet and sell it off to independent merchants. However, they were unaware of the secret mining facilities, causing the Muun to quietly buy it back and recover the undersea riches that had been piling up since they left.
    - The main port is Vlemoth Station, a 1,027 metre tall jade pillar that was once an IGBC orbital gun platform designed to protect Sanshur Flats from the Republic, before being grounded on the surface. There's an incredible image of it looming over a large city, and while the exterior is covered in additions that make it hard to tell, I believe it was one of the orbital gun platforms seen above Muunilinst in the original TCW mini-series.
    - Vlemoth Point is also home to Mandalorian and Talz migrant populations. The Talz are survivors of a Zygerrian slave ship that crashed on the planet, with them forming tribal groups over generations. When the Zygerrians rediscovered them, one clan of Talz formed a mutual defence pact with Clan Awaud. The two of them bond by going on hunts in the dangerous arctic portion of the planet, sharing hunting techniques and cold survival skills, with a nice picture of a Mando and a Talz hunting together.
    - The Clan Awaud settlement is called Arumorut.
    - One possible way to get information on the planet is to outdrink a Mando veteran named Old Teroch, who can barely seem to get more than a couple of sentences into the story of how his people came to Vlemoth without ordering another round. The drink choices are tihoar (a spirit), ne'tra gal (a sweet Mandalorian black ale), and kri'gee (a cheap ale that produces a powerful hangover, which, if handled without complaint the next day, is regarded as a sign of Mandalorian fortitude). Interestingly, Old Teroch is one of the pilot cards for the Fang fighter in the X-Wing Miniatures game. I really hope he doesn't drink as much when he's flying...
    - The Mandalorian ships are Aka'jor-class shuttles which have obviously been modified for combat.
    - The Zygerrian outpost on Kowak is ruled by Prince Sono Molec, who was unofficially exiled by Atai after his brashness in attacking an Imperial fleet got his older brother killed. The Imperial Navy captain responsible is obviously the main villain in the adventure.
    - Sono's full title is "His Royal Majesty, Prince Sono Molec: Champion of Listehol, Conqueror of the Slavers' Chain, Uniter of the Guilds, and the one true heir to the glorious Zygerrian Empire." A little ostentatious for a jumped-up Rimkin slaver.
    - Among his most prized fighters is the former Mandalorian chief of those on Vlemoth Port, who was believed killed in a slave raid on that planet. Awkward...
    - The Zygerrians allow other slaver guilds to use their outpost on Kowak, including the Karazak, Thalassians, and Trandoshans. The Thalassians are described as a reptilian species with a shell-covered body that would normally inhibit their movements, leading them to use repulsors and jetpacks to get around quickly. They're rarely seen without their armour and array of gadgets.
    - The Zygerrian fleet consists of HH-87 Starhoppers, Aurore-class freighters (which are now identified as YV-865 freighters which have been modified by the Zygerrians), and Sono's flagship, a corvette of unspecified class called the Unbreakable Chain.

These are just the things I figured would be of interest. If anyone has any questions about the content, just let me know and I'll try my best to answer them.
