I highly recommend those two, especially Lords of the Sith. Be warned, a fair portion of that book isn't about Vader.

That's what I thought made the book good - that the parts without the Sith were very compelling (for me at least).

Oh I totally agree. Seeing Cham and his group was awesome and I especially liked the incompetent imperial they forced into working with them.

While he's not the main character in it as such, Shadows of the Empire which is set between TESB and ROTJ has a subplot involving Vader which has a few scenes that get inside his head. I'd say it's worth checking out for that.

So far nothing as elaborate in canon other than the Marvel series and Lords of the Sith, but from Legends you may want to check Darth Vader and the Lost Command. IMO it's a good comic that takes place a couple of months after ROTS (or shortly after Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader) and explores quite a bit of the inner struggles experienced by the "young" Darth Vader.

Wasn't "Lost Command" one of those awful emo sadsack Vader stories? I can never remember which one of the "Darth Vader and the X" comics was which.

Yes, that's the one :p I get it why some people didn't like it, but I did as I thought it made sense for Vader to be so conflicted considering the story takes place one or two months after he starts wearing the suit. Or in other words, having a Vader as ruthless and cold as in Rogue One for example would be a bit out of place that soon after ROTS.

I absolutely hated that story. I would have bought Star Wars Legends Epic Collection - The Empire 1 if it hadn't included that story.

The Last Jedi was good from what I remember. It's a follow up to the Coruscant Nights trilogy though so you should read those first.

I thought it was pretty good as a follow up to the Jedi Quest series - does a good job of showing the early Inquisitorius. The main character is Ferus Olin from the Jedi Quest series - Anakin's main rival, who left the Order.

How close does the Vader ongoing end to ESB?

    Same question for Star Wars.

We don't really know, it's Marvel, they play with time.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think Vader #25 takes place about a year after ANH. But as Jedi Ben said, it's somewhat vague.

I like it - but a lot of people say that Anakin is excessively self-centred and ruthless in it - much closer to AOTC Anakin than TPM Anakin.

I've read that Palpatine intended to invade other galaxies. Where was this stated or suggested?

I thought he wanted to stop potential invasions, not cause them.

Okay, so in Bloodline we found out that

Ben doesn't know his grandfather was Darth Vader!!!!

But in the EU, the Solo kids (and Ben Skywalker too but I'm focusing on the Solos) seemed to always know. Was this all just gradually explained over time? How did Han and Leia do it in Legends?

Are there any novels or other pieces of information on this? I tried looking on Wookieepedia, but I didn't have much luck.
