Honestly the sheer silliness of it never struck me until now. [face_laugh]

Like Iron_lord and I were saying, I'm 99% certain that was what Zahn was actually going for.

To be honest, I actually kind of like the idea of a good-guy head of state looking like a big chicken, though. (Especially because it lets Jello make obvious puns about that picture)

The new era of peacetime brought about an artistic renaissance, in fields such as prose and poultry.

But those stormtroopers are totally just thinking "Fowl Rebels."

What they don't understand is that good enemies make even more egg-cellent friends.

Who will be their new enemy, though? They'll have to comb the galaxy looking for one.

Hell, anyone could be their new enemy. They just need to think outside the Bocs.

I imagine after Gavrisom served his term he retired and that's why we never heard from in the NJO.

Yeah, as much as we wanted to see absolutely everyone return in the NJO, it does make sense that some of them were just plain retired. Hobbie's absence is still a little weird, what with all of his friends coming back to fight for the fate of the galaxy, but I can see a politican like Gavrisom taking a look at Fey'lya's government and deciding that he could stay out of the bigger galactic picture and have more of an effect helping keep his homeworld safe or something.

You know speaking of Bantam stuff returning did the Yevetha ever recover from the Battle of N'Zoth in which the Vong nearly destroyed them?

My memory says they didn't, but never take the word of someone's memory. Trust, but verify.

Pretty sure the Vong exterminated the Yevetha completely.

Gavrisom was basically a friendly, well-meaning, competent politician. Of course the books can't have someone like that around! All politicians must be evil, corrupt, and anti-Jedi. :p

My guess is that either Gavrisom retired or just another of the namely random high-ranking politicians. He was mostly there in HoT so Leia could move back to the High Councilor position, resetting things to Thrawn trilogy status somewhat, although I didn't mind since I also thought of it as kind of a vacation for her too. I'm glad the NJO didn't use him again, they probably would have just killed him off in a brutal way.

It was definitely nice to have a nonhuman (non-humanoid even) leader of the New Republic that was also good and competent. And bonus points for making him Avian, since Star Wars usually neglects bird-inspired aliens with just a few exceptions.

We need to see more of Sar Agorn's species because we can never get enough green blobs.

It can't be Big Bird, because I'd already reserved the Big Bird look for... whatever his name was, the Imperial drug cop from the Lando Calrissian Adventures. The "absurd collection of flightless feathers."

I'm pretty sure Traitor is a rather popular and well-regarded novels around these parts.

Just because we don't discuss it every day doesn't mean it isn't loved.
Plenty of Traitor and NJO fans.

I wonder if someone in the NJO cranked up their own army of battle droids and fought a private war against the Vong with outdated ships, limited droids would have been an awesome tie in between the Prequels and the NJO.

Have some Geonosians, Neimodians, Umbarans, and Kaleesh as well fighting out a Vong attack-the last Separatist holdout.

Well, I know of a mention where a group of Super Battle Droids woke up or something and protected a planet and and became part of the GA Military.
