That is no doubt the MSRP. Stores like Amazon will definitely sell it for around $30, maybe less.

This is me upon reading this thread:

Seriously. My hand is nearly broken from the amount of table-pounding I've done for years over the lack of ground warfare material in Star Wars, whether the mainline or EU.

    Late 2017??

Still, good to know it actually exists - there's been a couple of fishy situations with reference works in the last few years.

I'll stick with the Essential Guide to Warfare, thanks.

Oh great, another history-bock that pretends to be a manual on SW-warfare.
    [face_talk_hand]

The EGTW already was a disappointment in that regard. Almost nothing on the thought-processes of the people making the decisions, the tactics, strategies, logistics or the use of combined arms or detailed descriptions of battles. At least the pictures were nice.

I've a feeling that a few old things like Siege of Foerost, Victor Initiative Project, and some of the info on the Old Republic armed forces might make it back into canon.

Ill get the book regardless of new canon. I do think some of you have to let go that the old stuff is legends and dont count. Now, its still fun to have and look at but look at it this way. Legends=Gl, New canon=Disney.

I mean, I'm still hugely pissed about Legends, but any time they make something that is very military-oriented, I'll be all over it regardless.

It definitely seems more ground troop & starfighter focused. I do hope to get a bit of love for capital ships too!

Considering how little attention has ever been paid to ground troops compared to starfighters and capital ships, I hope that, for a change, ground pounders get the vast and overwhelming majority of the face time.

I do feel the ground pounders do get neglected as well. Would love to see some new trooper armor, and would really like to see some new vehicles in the way of repulsor tanks and walkers. Though there is always room for capital ships as well in my book.

While it is a nice cover and I love Rogue One, I'd prefer a cover that emphasizes the fact that the book covers multiple eras (assuming that publisher summary on page one of this thread is still accurate). Otherwise it might confuse potential customers into thinking that its something akin to the Rogue One visual guide or art book.

Best ever cover in that respect (emphasizing that it covers multiple eras) is the Japanese cover of The New Essential Chronology. Edit: Link to larger image here.

I can do without any Mon Cal cruisers in this book. They always mess them up anyways (Home One and Viscount sizes).

What I do desperately want is to see Sullustan regiments and their counter-intel skills appear.

The Sullustan regiments were awesome. I'd use 6-12 on my critical worlds to avoid sabotage, backed up by regular Alliance armies (a dozen), and 6 Mon Cal regiments just to beef things up. Throw up 2-3 GenCore Two generators and your worlds were safe from any roaming Imperial fleets.

God I loved Rebellion... I'd kill for an updated graphics version!

I always enjoyed playing as the Empire, catching a bunch of Rebel agents on a world and assassinating them one by one

ugh Mon Cal regiments were like roaches. You had to burn them out with fire.
