I dunno Han Solo has always been so much of a loner that part of me is really attracted to the idea of there being a couple of Calrissians in this movie for contrast.

Right, but it's him and Chewie and everyone else is a fool or a cheat.

I'm now imagining Lando and Han as buddies at the Imperial Academy getting up to wacky college hi-jinks.

Well, he used to have a bigger crew.

    Then Rathtars.

I can't get my head around Lando having ever gone to the academy.

Could she be Sloane? I'll admit she doesn't really come across as "Sloane" to me the way I've been imagining her, but she could certainly do the voice. Er. At least the voice in my head.

Not sure I can wrap my head around the idea of Lando serving the Empire (Han's jabs about Lando's newfound respectability and responsibility, for example) but I could get behind some kind of cool family business...

At that point in the timeline, Sloane would be much younger than Newton.

Yeah she's too old for Sloane at this point in the timeline. She'd be great for a post-ROTJ Aftermath Sloane though. However I'd love to see her playing another Imperial officer. It'd address some things that I've wanted to see in these films for awhile now:

    1. A female main villain.
    2. A female Imperial.
    3. More kinds of Imperials in-general.
    4. Etc.

Lol, "is (dark-skinned woman) Sloane?" is the new "is (force user) Snoke?"

Granted, she's got the British accent. Maybe Sloane isn't a Brit but I've been reading her as that as an Imperial.

You must made me realize I've never read Sloane as British. Not sure why, now that I think of it.

I agree that she probably is but I go back and forth in my head, just because I'm not used to it.

What do you guys hear in your head when you read Sloane? I am with Barriss_Coffee in that I hear her as British. She is such an Imperial's Imperial that I can't imagine her not being a Brit.

I rarely really visualize stuff in that way--unless I make a special effort, or if it's a big movie character, everyone basically sounds like me. :p

Absolutely British, but I'd sooner cast Sophie Okonedo.

Is it too much to hope Newton is playing Salla Zend?

Aw you're like one of those people who can't visualize anything they read.:( I don't know what it would be like to read something without hearing the voice! That's gotta be... boring...?

I'm able to, I just...don't, normally. And I do see images more than I hear voices.

I also read at the same speed I would if I was reading out loud, which I've gradually come to believe is unusual, and why I'm so much slower than most of you.

I'm pretty similar to Coop. I visualize images just fine while reading, but I have to stop and think, "what do I think this character sounds like?" to hear their words in something other than the generic "voice in my head" voice.

Me too, though I can't usually identify them or even relate them to real people at all (Sloane being a case of this).

Yes, it's just the "Sloane voice." Which is distinct (for example) from the "Ciena voice."
