Hi Jason, just one more question about Rogue One Rebel Dossier (I liked the book very much!). What is the deal with Galen and Lyra being employees of Arakyd Industries? I know this is tied to K-2SO, but Catalyst novel states that there was Zerpen Industries on Vallt fusion plant. Could you please shed a little light on this? Thanks!

I'm gonna guess Zerpen Industries is a subsidiary of Arakyd?

Re the above, should have been changed to Zerpen. Two projects fell out of sync. Nothing to do with K-2. Nice catch!

Separately: first part of author's notes for Rebel in the Ranks are up. Pt 2 coming later today....

Jason, I didn't notice the name "Marleyvane" before, though the Wookieepedia tells me it came up in the Essential Atlas. Was that name a sideways reference to Marvel's Shalyvane? While also setting up a recurring naming convention, like "-ooine"?

Nope, just going for a Dickensian "Old England" vibe namewise. It's from Warfare and was introduced as a major shipyard in that book.

Whether intentional or not, it does fit very nicely with the other name!

Hey Jason! I'm the annoying kid from NYCC that you stumped with the trivia question about the trash compactor. I'm sorry I kind of blew you off at (yeah, that's me) when you were at the DK books booth promoting the RO Visual Guide and Complete Locations.[face_laugh]

Since I was too busy talking to Pablo, I want to let you know I appreciate your work greatly, and I still have the autograph you and Pablo signed for me. ^:)^

Ha, blowing me off to talk to Pablo just shows you're a sensible individual. Thanks for the kind words!

Thanks for confirmation! Just one more clarification, please. The data storehouse on Vulpter (source of info on Ersos) should be Zerpen, too? That would mean there were two companies present on Vulpter: Zerpen Industries with their data storage AND Arakyd Industries with their droid manufacturing plant (where K-2SO was built). Which was why I connected these fact in my mind in the first place...

If I'd noticed the goof I would have moved it to some other world. Perhaps a retcon -- exact nature TBD -- will come along one day.

Jason, I was hoping you could clarify a few things regarding the incidents described on the last page of Rebel Dossier: the most specific thing is, I'm not entirely certain who's talking in what order there. Certainly, Mothma is the one speaking at the bottom and having the final word (and getting in an ANH line-drop at that!), but I'm not certain who the others in the conversation are and which one is which, whether Cracken, Draven, Dodonna, Hostis Ij or other. Could you make clear to this dense-headed reader who's who and which one's saying what in that conversation?

Also, the notion of a Rebel scoutship picking up a scan of the Death Star seems to me to tie directly in with a mention in the Freed novelization of Admiral Raddus offering to send just such a scoutship: "We have a cargo freighter outfitted for long-range scans four stops down the nearest hyperlane from Jedha," Raddus communicates to Mothma, Draven and Ria in the novelization. "She's tasked on another operation, but I can divert her if Captain Andor doesn't report in soon." Was it your understanding when you were writing that page that your scoutship and Freed's were one and the same?

If that's the case, then seeing as the scoutship was only diverted to the Terrabe Bypass AFTER reports of a full Imperial withdrawal from Jedha and an energy discharge in orbit began to reach Yavin, I'm going to assume based on the wording of the text of the contact report that the unnamed pilot detected the Death Star either holding position IN the system, or moving OUT of the system to wherever it stayed (where DID it stay anyway?) until Tarkin ordered it to Scarif.

Also, any further you'd like to discuss regarding the notion of the Death Star having a defensive escort of capital ships and fighters to accompany it where it goes (assuming it was actually moving when the scout detected it)? It's a perfectly common-sense thing for the Empire to do, of course - and if I'm not mistaken, you yourself have discussed the idea before, along with the notion, IIRC, that the Imperial fleet blocked off portions of hyperlanes the Death Star was traveling on to allow the station unimpeded movement and to prevent too many looky-loos from seeing things they shouldn't. But if there's more you'd like to share about the reasoning, little details, etc. behind the concept, I'd love to hear it.

I never defined who the speakers are, but contextually the doubter is probably Jebel and the "battle moon" suggestion is from Dodonna. Glad you noticed Mothma channeling ANH -- I was proud of that bit.

Alex and I worked independently -- I suspect you're right re the scoutship mention. All credit to Story Group or Alex there.

The escort made sense to me, at least at this point, given that the DS is still being tested. If the reactor goes offline and the thing plummets out of hyperspace in the middle of nowhere with no long-range communications ... well, that would be bad. ("Your Majesty, we know our battle station is in realspace somewhere between the Core and the galactic edge. We estimate scouts will discover its precise location and make contact sometime in the next 732 years.")

Jason, if you had to make a guess (and I'd have to say you're one of two people most qualified to take a stab at it), how many months before Return of the Jedi is Moving Target set?

In the 'better late than never' department, I finally read through all 4 Servants of the Empire books this afternoon. I enjoyed them! (I normally wait to get the whole series for short books like these and then read them at one sitting. )

Hmm. Three or four weeks at most? Leia returns with the idea of impersonating Boushh, Luke has intel on Han and a plan, so they're ready to put things in motion.

BTW, this is a dumb place to put this but for a project I went through Fantasy Flight's Lords of Nal Hutta and it's phenomenal. Tons and tons of great lore.

Nice! Because I'm sick of seeing FFG's material with the Legends tag on it on Wookieepedia. ;)

And so are most Wookieepedians, believe you me. It's just that there is no simple answer to what the FFG material is.
