So, The word is out! Alec Worley, Ruairí Coleman and Chris O'Halloran and are adapting Jason Fry's novel The Weapon of a Jedi for 4 issues of Panini's German Star Wars Magazin. The first part will be published in issue 19 of the magazine, on March 19. I sure like Coleman's art, so I'll be glad to see that!

Here a link to the corresponding Jedi-Bibliothek news report (in German).

Great news! until it dawns on everyone that there is a high possibility this will never see the light of day outside Germany!

That's an unfortunate possibility, alas! :-(

I'm not impressed by that art.

Still, it is pretty cool what random things Germany can come up with.

Darn that German efficiency of making a novel into a comic in a language that I can't read!

I can't really judge (yet), since I've never been into ships and space shots. That being said, I kinda like the retro feel. Reminds me a little of the old X-wing comics.

Yeah, I don't know if that's what they're intentionally going for, but I definitely got the same old X-Wing vibe. Which is fine with me.

I guess the only way is to order it from Germany.

The first part of the comic has been released, and it's 18 pages long! A few stray observations, for those who are interested:
    • The comic contains the first depiction of the Razor-class frigateKreuge's Revenge. It has the same type of command tower as the ISD, but the body of the ship itself is much boxier.
    • In the novel, we only see Luke's POV during his skirmish with the Kreuge's Revenge. But in the comics, we also see what happens inside the Imperial ship, which is helmed by a mustachioed officer called Pyparr.
    • There's the 1st canon depiction of a Herglic. Yay!
    • The transport carrying underground rebel leaders being evacuated from Giju is a GR-75 medium transport. The bulk freighters that appear in the same missions seem to belong to several different models.

Sorry. When I hear "first part" I think that it's been put online. You meant the ACTUAL, physical comic, right? *headdesk*

Glad we finally get to see Commander Narra, the man who became Red Leader after the Battle of Yavin.

Part 2 was released yesterday. Nice pics of Farnay's father, Devaronian villages, and our first depiction of the native pikhron creatures.

Well, we get 99% of Star Wars in our native language, let the Germans have a comic or two.

Germany really does 'get the good stuff' Clone Wars season 6, this, more Rebels comics, they get Kindle editions of books that we in the UK don't get.

    What's going on with licensing?

Is the text behind the Devaronian German? I can't tell. "MEIS..." looks like it could be. It would be our first time seeing an non-English Earth language written in Aurebesh, right?

I hadn't noticed but... Yes, actually. The full inscription says "Meister Kivas' Werkstatt." But we have to remember the comic was still made in English in the first place, so that must be a (unusually throrough) localisation.
