Don't make Jello break character like that again. It's scary.

Given how well received the TIE Fighter fanfilm was here - maybe Lost Stars in the same style would be well received too?

This is really cool. Webtoons are incredibly popular in both South Korea and Japan, and a book like Lost Stars that overlaps with the classic films is perfect for adapting to a casual market. Putting Vader on the cover is great for marketing, too --- on the last few trips I've taken to Japan, both before and after The Force Awakens, I saw Vader everywhere. Even at the Mt. Fuji visitor center in 2014, you could buy a little cloth flag/sweatband that had Vader standing triumphantly atop the mountain.

The success of this could only lead to one thing --- more Japanese versions of EU stuff, and more cover art by Tsuyoshi Nagano. We'll still never get that Betrayal cover, though.

And I'll probably be the one taking care of that--begrundgingly, though, because I never liked that art style, but it's still a good thing that we'll have images.

Loving this reveal. And though it is nice that it's free, I'd gladly buy this should they ever do a printed English version. The old ANH and ESB manga are my favourite adaptations.

To channel El Guapo, can you really look forward to a plethora of anything?

But this looks very interesting and I like the art style.

So, which will come first: fan English translation or official English translation?[face_whistling]

Probably a fan translation with no hope of an official English translation. But if it's a faithful adaptation of the book, all our hypothetical bilingual friend needs to do is find the passages in the book that relate to the characters' dialogue, so all the dialogue, at least, will be official.

Someone has translated the first bit of this on this website.

Sent from Hell--depending on whether or not it exists.

They sure are taking a lot of liberties with the story. Not that that is a bad thing but if there wasn't a character named Thane in there I wouldn't have known this was supposed to have anything to do with the Lost Stars book.

    So.

Ciena's in a single panel and it's all about Thane?

...and also WHERE IS THE IMPERIAL PALACE BALL? Seriously, are they not going to cover the most important part of all of Star Wars canon literature?

The Korean webcomic received an official English translation, why would this be any different?

My guess is that a lot of the story is going to be told through flashbacks, which isn't surprising seeing as this is a Japanese adaptation and a lot of Japanese storytellers like to do that sort of thing--flashbacks used dramatically.

In that case, I have two demands.

    1. Since chapter 1 is apparently all about Thane, chapter 2 should be all about Ciena.

    2. Ciena's chapter should have an Imperial Ball flashback.

If my demands are not met, I will post grumpy emoji on this thread.

Isn't Yendor, y'know, a man in the book?

Well, this sounds like it's going to be a source for some good old-fashioned adaptation drama.

I mean generally as a rule I'm pretty relaxed about these things. There's no obligation for things across media to be consistent, different storytelling rules, etc.

Just hope that it doesn't turn into simply the story of Thane. But like I said, if chapter 2 is all about Ciena, that'd help.

And I will say it was cool getting to see Ciena's peasant dress. I couldn't be less interested in another Hoth story, so if this story moves to the Jelucan or Coruscant stuff, that'd be nice.

This style of art leads to everyone looks kinda feminine.

True, but the slightly thinner eyebrows and the more prominent eyelashes look typically manga female, to me. But I can see how, with the helmet on, and very little of his figure shown, Yendor could just be harder to identify as male in this style.
