Matt Fraction's Hawkeye is beautiful, I'd love to see his distinct sense of humor applied to Star Wars.

I was reading the ANH novelisation the other day and I thought of another possible story that could appear in this book

Shortly after the destruction of Alderaan a rookie tie fighter pilot gets lost while on patrol. He/she is very inexperienced and fears that they'll never find their way back to the death star. Suddenly a small freighter comes out of hyperspace. The pilot fires on the freighter in panic and flees, the pilot then attempts to com reinforcements but their signal is being jammed by the freighter. As the freighter closes in the pilot is worried what the freighter will do when it catches up. Suddenly the tie pilot sees the glorious image of the death star in the distance and heads for it. Somehow the pilot makes it back alive and when he/she disembarks they are congratulated for their part in the capture of the freighter.

If this isn't included, at least someone will have an idea for a fanfic

Heh, Ian Doescher is probably gonna bring more Shakespearean goodness.

Doescher's story will probably reveal that one of the patrons in the cantina scene was the star wars equivalent of a Shakespearian actor/ playwright. Maybe Obi Wan slicing off Ponda Baba's arm gives them inspiration or something.....

I can't tell whether I'm more excited seeing favorite writers come up, or seeing new writers I've never had a chance to read before. Actually, why choose? Let's say both.

We're gonna get something like this for the 40th anniversary of the Holiday Special next year, right?

That sounds like an opportunity for a Tag and Bink set of stories.

Considering that it (like the Ewok Movies) I have avoided like the plague and George Lucas' continual desire for it being wiped from history, I doubt it.

I really don't see the issue people have with the Holiday Special, aside from Luke's makeup and Chewie's dad watching space porn. The cantina scene is great, the cooking show is funny, and you get to see Imperial-occupied Kashyyk.

And it doesn't make any sense to cast judgement on something you haven't even seen.

The Holiday Special is pretty bad but it's also not any worse than some of the weird EU books that we love for being terrible (GoDV, Crystal Star).

Also, the opening of Battle for Endor is brutal. Cindel's family getting killed off as she watches their lights on her life monitor bracelet go off one by one... pretty dark stuff for an Ewok TV movie! And Caravan of Courage holds a special place in my heart as the first Star Wars film I remember watching.

Yeah. I watched it when I was a kid but somehow must've blocked that out, because when I watched it years later as I watched the opening I was, like, slack-jawed in disbelief that the entire family was just slaughtered.

Every Star Wars fan needs to see the Holiday Special once.

I don't know about more than once, mind you.

Holiday Special and both Ewok movies are gems. GEMS. Anyone who says differently is wrong. WRONG.

    Seriously I love all three.

You can see it more than once if it's with a group, at least some of whom haven't seen it before, and there is a copious supply of alcohol.

The small clips of the Holiday Special I saw on Youtube are enough for me to gag and I've done my hardest to block out the Ewok films.

The only good thing to come out of the Special was Chewbacca's family (I like Lumpy so sue me).

I've never seen the Ewok films. I could never watch a movie about such brutal killers and war criminals.

Um in my opinion that is the First Order though, if what happened to Tuanul Village on Jakku, Hosnian Prime and the rest of the Hosnian system along with the Republic Fleet and Takodana is any indication.

Oh, what an insult - likening Jello to an FO supporter!

No, no, no - you're thinking of Charles.

He's referring to the Sanyassan Marauders and I'm saying that the First Order are the same. No insult.

They literally ATE prisoners of war and then played music with their remains. I mean, that is the sheerest evil.
