    Like you know how intimidating and awe-inspiring Vader was? And how dangerous his pitches for joining the dark side was? How he was seen as kind of the Heavy enforcer of the Empire's will who you're better off running away from than standing and fighting?

    I want Luke to be that, but as a hope-bringing light-sider.

    I want to see Snoke and the FO continue treating Luke as the biggest individual threat to their power, especially now that he's got an apprentice and made contact with the Resistance. I want to see some of the mooks and henchmen clearly nervous and worried about taking him on, even when he's being conciliatory and friendly. And I really want to see Kylo or some other Knight of Ren be comparable to Luke in the Bespin duel; totally outmatched in terms of power, control and training, and finding their world view being destroyed by a compassionate Luke trying to convince them that Snoke's a hoax.

    I still want her to be playing dumb when she tells Finn that she thought Luke was a myth, and I want the first thing out of her mouth after she hands Luke his saber to be, "...Dad?"

    I can hope, can't I?

    It's already pretty much explicit in TFA that Snoke, at least, literally considers Luke the equivalent of a superweapon. He doesn't decide to fire the Starkiller because of any military or political action by the Resistance or Republic - he does it because Luke is about to be found.

    So over in 8SA...

    They're discussing a rumor that states that Snoke is a Diathim...aka the Angels of Iego. Which would literally make Snoke a fallen angel.

    Diathim: 7-9 feet tall
    Snoke: 7 foot tall

    Diathim: Normal skin color, blue eyes.
    Snoke: Normal skin color, blue eyes

    Diathim: Long gangly arms and long fingers
    Snoke: Long gangly arms and long fingers

    The only difference is Diathim have wings and kind of glow, and Snoke doesn't. But if he lost his wings, perhaps the glow came from the wings somehow. I really like the idea of Snoke being a fallen angel, literally. Way better than him being Plagueis/Palpatine reborn/Vader reborn/That One Guy from Rogue One.

    That would actually be sort of clever, since the Diathim are weird and supernatural but they aren't gods or anything. It's a potential compromise between the Same Old Sith All Over Again problem and making him some sort of primeval evil that would be hard to swallow both in terms of other rumors and in terms of being a somewhat lacking character.

    Snoke can still be connected to Plagueis and not be Plagueis himself. ROTS alluded to at least 3 unknown people connected to Plagueis:
    "He could even keep the ones he cared about from dying."--Since the term is plural, ones, there are at least 2 people Plagueis kept from dying.
    "Influence the midi-chlorians to create life."--There's at least 1 life form running around who was created by Plagueis.
    So Snoke could be any of at least 3 people connected to Plagueis without being Plagueis himself.

    First heard that Iego angel theory over on the Star Wars reddit, and I've been fond of it since then. I hope its true. Having Snoke be a literal fallen angel would be really neat.

    It was this week last year that we got an R1 trailer, so that wouldn't surprise me at all. We got the first TLJ teaser the same week we got the R1 teaser, too. Same with the BTS reel. So it follows that a trailer would come around the same time.

    A pre-season game too!! Seriously, after the 1st quarter it's literally scrubs trying to get a job before they get banished to the CFL.

    I'm working that night so going to be a youtube on my phone during a break viewing for me!

    I don't actually mind watching sports, though I prefer hockey or soccer.

    Football is okay. But nearly everyone around here cheers for the patriots, who I dislike greatly. I don't mind watching the panthers or even the CFL once in a while. Games are kind of long though.

    R1's didn't debut until almost midnight, IIRC–but it did, in fact, come online the same day. So no, there's no real reason to watch sports (which is good, because I will be knee-deep in training for new-student orientation at college all week).
