excellent. going from a hero to a better hero. they could have gone the easy route and made him the bad boy/rogue archetype, someone who doesn't follow the rules but saves the day anyway. i hate those and that's not who Poe is, he's a soldier and the leader of black squadron, he's already an upstanding good man, now he has to maintain that while looking at the "big picture" like leia does

he'll probably have to make some difficult decisions, lose the battle to win the war type things. i think this character arc will be my favorite

I think that's exactly it. Poe will want to rush out and go on the offense against the FO while Leia knows it would be wiser to run and hide on Crait for a while. I wouldn't be surprised if Poe sneaks off like a rebellious teenager and gets himself into some trouble.

 

Anyone else notice that Poe is wearing the ring on a chain seen in that Instagram post from filming last year?

I believe it's her mother ring.
And that is another reason for me to believe that Shattared Empire is more important that we may have guessed...
I mean, by the time the comic came out the Force Trees weren't a thing in the ST, but they were in that comic.
And if somehow Shara Bey will be mentioned in TLJ, then that comic is much more meaningful than it seemed at first.

I would think Kes Dameron would keep his wife's ring with him since he is alive and well during the events of TFA according to Poe's Log. What if Poe has a fiance? In Gunga Din (one of the movies that inspired TLJ), one of the three main characters is engaged and about to get married.

 

Poe is a pilot like his mother and he risks his life every day. I could see his father giving Poe his mother's ring to keep with him as something to draw strength from.

I noticed something in an old interview of OI just before the release of TFA..... he mentioned that Poe comes from a long line of rebel fighters. I know both is parents are rebel fighters but a long line implies more than 2 relatives involved in the rebellion.

I'm now wondering if his grandfather (mentioned in Shatter Empire) or some other relative is someone we've seen in the PT, TCW, RO or Rebels.

 

Something else I find interesting is the reported flashback that Rey is to have in TLJ. Of course please take this with a pinch of salt. It is leaked that Rey's flashback is to when she was a child and she see's herself holding her mother's hand boarding a ship to leave with her. She also sees her father in an orange rebel x-wing suit. So the father has on a pilot's suit but the mother pilots the ship they leave on?

Could Rey and Poe somehow be connected?

 

That would be interesting. Always found it weird they never met in the episode 7 movie. If I recall correctly, the rumor mentioned that Rey believes the man to be her father, so it leaves the possibility for some twist in episode 9....of course, my first thought is that maybe the pilot in the rebel x-wing suit is Wedge Antilles trying to help Rey's mom and her get to safety (especially since he is nowhere to be found after the events of the Aftermath trilogy).
