Are you sure that isn't just young Severus Snape with a photoshopped lightsaber?

(Not that there's anything wrong with that, mind you...)

Looks great. Hope Kylo can impress audiences come december.

On a side-note; I went to see Logan Lucky yesterday and wasn't impressed by the film or Driver's performance to be honest. Thought the film dragged on. Could've been half an hour shorter and I wouldn't have missed a bunch of scenes.

A lot of people's theories about Kylo sound like Arcann from SWTOR if the player is light sided.

The Outlander battled Arcann while SCORPIO's ships tore the flagship apart around them, until finally defeating him. Staggering back from the Outlander, he was seemingly crushed by collapsing debris, his cybernetic arm destroyed.
The wounded Arcann was found by Senya, who lamented that she had wanted to save him. When Vaylin arrived, Senya offered to take them both with her; Vaylin angrily refused. But when she attempted to strike Senya down, Arcann Force-pushed her away, saving his mother. While Vaylin vengefully retreated back to Zakuul, Senya took Arcann in his personal shuttle and escaped into hyperspace, as the flagship and its escorts were obliterated by the Gravestone
Players find Arcann on Voss, where Senya begs for the chance to heal her son's rage. If players allow this, Senya sacrifices her life essence so that the Voss Mystics can heal Arcann's mind and body before he flees.
Arcann battles his sister on Zakuul, but Vaylin manages to escape. If Arcann was healed, he will fight the Horizon Guards with the players before swearing allegiance to the Alliance. If Arcann wasn't healed, he will attack the player in a final attempt at vengeance, but he will be struck down.
If Arcann was healed, he will appear at the briefing on Odessen and offer insight on the planet Nathema, but he refuses to go there himself, fearing he may fall back into his old ways in its presence devoid of the Force.
Arcann will fight alongside Senya in defense of the Gravestone. Afterwards, he and Senya will join players in the duel against Vaylin and her Horizon Guards. If Arcann was not healed, he and Senya are replaced by Theron Shan and Lana Beniko.
Arcann and Senya will join players as they fight their way to the Eternal Throne. When players are rendered unconscious by Valkorion, Arcann will meditate and enter the players' mind to aid in the fight against his father. He will later appear on Odessen.

So, applying this to Kylo, the irrelevant parts removed...

Rey battled Kylo while Starkiller Base collapsed around them, until finally defeating him. Staggering back from Rey, he was seemingly crushed by collapsing debris, his cybernetic arm destroyed. Hux took Kylo in his personal shuttle and escaped into hyperspace as Starkiller Base was destroyed.

Players find Arcann on Voss Leia begs for the chance to heal her son's rage. If players allow this, Leia sacrifices her life essence so that the Voss Mystics can heal Arcann's mind and body before he flees.

If he wasn't healed, T7-01 will offer insight instead.

Arcann will fight alongside Senya in defense of the Gravestone. Afterwards, he and Senya will join players in the duel against Vaylin and her Horizon Guards. If Arcann was not healed, he and Senya are replaced by Theron Shan and Lana Beniko.

Kylo and Luke will join Rey as they fight their way to Snoke. When Rey is rendered unconscious by Snoke, Kylo will meditate and enter the players' mind to aid in the fight against Snoke.

Completely disagree. Behind Dunkirk, I think it's the second best film of the year, and Driver is excellent in it. And the pace was great - a nice break from breakneck summer fare. Not surprised, as Soderberg is a master. Even in retirement! Would be great to see him try his hand at a Star Wars spinoff. Bounty hunter film, for example. He makes the underground so much fun.

    Don't worry. I think you'll love it. And it's a 93% at RT.

I have to admit this: from the moment I first saw TLJ teaser poster, to this latest merchandising .. it seems to me very much, that Rian Johnson's moved away from the "Vader 2.0" Ren model to humanising Kylo to the point where I now think that the !KyloRedeemed is going to be a thing. Pretty sure it will involve some Snoke killing along the way. Ah well.

Oh.. and I was quite amused by "Lucky Logan" - Daniel Craig was the standout for me, as well as Riley Keogh and I loved the GoT references.

Best film of the summer though (my winter) - "Baby Driver" ..

Kylo's new look is weak sauce. TFA Kylo wins in this regard.

I don't think the new look is weak sauce, but I do also prefer his more Dark Ages TFA look.

I agree as well. TFA look was way more unique. I like what they have done for TLJ minu the cape. I would have done something different with it, it looks like a mantle almost. I am confident he will ditch the cape quite early on the film tbh, it does not look practical at all.

Curious to see the lightsaber though, is it new or is it just similar in looks?

The helmet looked way cooler with the TFA costume imo. The silhouette seems a little off now. Seeing as he seems to lose the mask early this doesn't seem like an issue.

The impression i get from audiences and fandom about Kylo ren is that he just the bad guy, an evil dark side user and the villain of the trilogy and so his story and fate will be determined by that..

The impression i get from the character though is that he is desperately trying to gain the full power of the dark side and is struggling to do so for some reason.

Its not just a case of someone turning bad its a case of someone turning bad but is haunted by not fully being able to embrace being bad in a way that other dark side users have done previously.

When he killed han he thought that would be his turning point and i am gonna take a guess and say that probably didn't happen.

I don't think Kylo will be treated as a typical evil villain because he is still technically a skywalker and that whole good and bad things gonna be all over it.

I can only hope that they are not following the evil=ugly on the outside and in trope - but when you consider what poor Anakin / Vader looked like .. some little part of me wonders whether the rewrites were done to redeem Kylo in order to honor Carrie's Leia legacy by giving her character a happier end by having her son back.

Yep, I would say he is removing layers both the character and the costume. He still has this "armored" look in TLJ, although it is a more human look. It has moved from a spectre in TFA to a dark lord in TLJ IMO. My expectations for IX are, as he seems to fight Snoke's guards at some point, that he will still be on the dark side most likely, but fight Snoke, wearing a more standard costume, probably with lighter tones to reflect his conflict.

I'd really like to find out in TLJ WHY Kylo fell.

The TFA novelization indicates that Kylo is ideological, but that's a lot less clear in the movie.

I like the TFA look better as well, but I think they're doing this quite deliberately. Kylo is going from a Fallen Monk with a Monster's Face to Guy at a Masked Ball Who Forgot His Mask. What's the dark side equivalent of Benjamin Buttoning? Reverse Anakin'ing?

One of the reasons I wondered about Rey being a Solo was the idea her older brother was jealous of her and accidentally thought he killed her and arranged the theft of the Falcon to cover up this vile act.
The loss of Rey estranged his parents but it also meant Luke didn't teach him as he hoped because Leia wanted to keep him close to avoid another tragedy.
Snoke noticed the change and helped Ben with force training that Leia began to suspect her son was being corrupted so sent him to Luke unaware it was already too late.
Snoke tricked Ben into carrying a transmitter to lead New Republic Forces to Luke's Academy destroying it with Ben claiming the credit becoming Kylo Ren.
Luke aware of the truth warned Leia sending R2 to her as his messenger and then went into hiding which is why he sought the First Jedi Temple to seek the answers and solace to avoid falling like Ben.
I doubt this will be the case as I wasn't impressed with TFA, maybe TLJ might do better?

We know his fall began before then, however. Long before then. Leia sensed a growing darkness in Ben; that's why she sent him to Luke (although we have not been told when this occured).

We also don't know what Snoke's influence on Ben was. Or why Luke, a powerful Jedi who was very attentive re Ben's training, somehow didn't sense the darkness that his mother had seen for a while.
