Abrams was far from my first choice, but still, it's an improvement over Trevorrow. Just hope the action scenes are handled better this time.

 

uhhhh , I dunno . Abrams is such a hack . plus - he's good at starting stuff but not at wrapping it up .

 

I don't care for Abrams as a filmmaker, period, so this will likely be the first SW trilogy that only offers one movie I'll enjoy (with the OT, it was ANH and TESB; with the PT, TPM and ROTS).

Still, I wouldn't worry too much about a retread; in light of the TFA critiques, I'm sure Abrams will at least try to offer a fresh story.

 

So, not only to you largely enjoy the PT, but you've decided you will like a film you haven't seen, and won;t like a film you haven't seen.

 

I don't care for Abrams as a filmmaker, comma, but The Force Awakens was still better than Rogue One, comma, which is nearly as bad as the worst film of the PT, colon, Attack of the Clones, period.

 

I'd rather Michael Bay direct a Star Wars movie than JJ.

 

I will probably end up thinking like Ken but for now I still think The Force Awakens and Rogue One were great.

 

Diggy: Yes, it's called a track record. I've been entranced by every movie/episode Rian Johnson directed (Brick, The Brothers Bloom, Looper, Breaking Bad), so it stands to reason I'll enjoy The Last Jedi; I've either disliked (the Star Treks, The Force Awakens) or been indifferent to (Super 8) every movie Abrams has helmed, so it stands to reason that my impression of Episode IX will fall on the negative side.

I want a Max Rebo film played as a generic musician biopic. Childhood scenes, drug problems, cameos by every other slightly famous person he met. Everything!

 

Given the BrBa episode RJ is most famous for, I'm expecting TLJ to open with a shot of Chewie's corpse, and The First Order killing Luke while Rey grovels and begs them not to do it. While leaving, the FO finds BB8 hiding under the Millennium Falcon and they take it along as a slave to work in their spice superlab.

 

In May, unless that changed.

 

Rey and Finn spend the entire second act trying to catch a bug that got into the Falcon.
