Having a good relationship with a house's former owners is an excellent thing. For a long time, I was anxious in my grandparents' "North Bedroom" (my dad's old room) because it was spooky and dark and weird. It had a huge chest of drawers formerly of the U of Michigan labs labeled "Debugged Skeletons" and "Skeletons to be Debugged." (Can't recall right now whether the skeletons in question were human or animal. As a child, I assumed they were human.)

Anyway, I spent a lot of time with my terminally ill grandma as a twentysomething, and when she passed, I was less nervous about that room. I'd say, "Grammie, it's just me," as I turned on the light, and the feeling of eerie dread lessened.

Just saying.

And the ceiling of that room is fabulous!

Off to Washington DC tomorrow for 5 days of Trumptacular fun. Hope the weather is nice. Last time I went to DC I packed for winter conditions and it was about 90 degrees. I had to buy a pair of shorts.

 

I feel nothing but gratitude when I'm there. The house is eventually going to be inherited by Erica's daughter--they have to do the whole probate process before that happens, though... but anyway, I'm fixing it up for her (and her brother). Whether she ends of moving in or selling it, I needs to be a lot nicer. I'll probably be there for about a year, maybe two, working on the place. I'm not wealthy (far from it), so it's going to take a lot of time and patience. But yeah... I feel that the house is happy with me, it that makes sense.

As someone who doesn't believe in ghosts (even though I love Halloween), I will say that orbs in photos are usually caused by dust floating in the air and reflecting light. That one orb is unusually bright though.

Anyway, I think you will do a great job with the house. It will be hard work, I bet; but also very rewarding.

Yeah, I agree. I'm moving in on the 1st, which is also the year anniversary of her death. I'm ripping that band-aid right off. It'll be good for me, I think, in the long run.

As for the 'orb'.... no idea, man. Like I said, I saw it when I uploaded the pics.

 

Light orbs are restless spirits too lazy to manifest as full-bodied apparitions and way too lazy for poltergeisty maneuvers. They rarely interfere with home improvement projects.
