That's one that maybe could've looked somewhat amusing on paper, but in reality onscreen....no, it absolutely wasn't.

Yeah, I think widely considered THE worst, though I think "Move Along Home" is also pretty widely panned?

I'm still wrapping my head around ST: Discovery getting a TV MA.

Edit: It won't let me abbreviate. Stupid filters

A TV-MA rated Miles O'Brien is something I could grow to like.

I did read an interview with the showrunners where they said they were trying to find a line because it's streaming and don't really have content restrictions so they said that profanity and nudity "felt a little weird". Although I'm sure they'll be a Klingon bloodbath and no pink pepto bismal blood this time.

Also it'll be interesting considering the 1st episode is broadcast on CBS / Space and can't see that being TV MA. But Space can totally get away with TV-MA content so that's a minor quibble.

I'm sure Jason Issacs' Captain's death in episode 14 or so will be quite bloody!

Jason Isaacs is a recognizable name, but he's not really a big star. There's no reason for him to be killed off soon. It would be too predictable anyway. Plus, there are other ways to write characters out of a story. Game of Thrones has poisoned people's thinking regarding that.

They're totally going to kill him off early, aren't they?

You never got the slightest hint that Miles O'Brien was just a tad prejudicial toward the Cardies? I ain't talking about Garrack's stock and trade either.

    The theme:

The opening play on the original theme intro is interesting, but the rest doesn't strike me as a main theme. It'd work fine as background music within a sequence, but it's not grabbing me.

Then again, as a kid I didn't like the DS9 theme at first, either- but that was simply because i wasn't expecting something slow following the TNG march. It was still objectively a great theme, though (I never skipped the DS9 credits once during my project).

The Orville's theme is cheesier but more memorable.

Would be great if we get a version of the Klingon Theme of TMP and early TNG to hear.

I love that theme and i think it would really match with what we have seen of the Klingons in that show till now.

Not bad for a main theme. Infinitely better than Ent.

Anyone else think that the French horns sounded an awful lot like Richard Strauss' Alpine Symphony?

The only themes I've really liked are the TNG theme and the AU theme for Enterprise.

*sighs* I'm clearly alone in liking Enterprise's theme.

No, you're not. I also really liked ENT's theme. The song itself and the montage of the endeavors of humanity - perfect.

That said, I don't dislike any of the themes of the other shows either. I enjoy them all.

DSC's theme feels like it's a compilation of TOS, TNG, and Abrams' themes that we've heard. Neither like it nor dislike it at this point. I just wonder if it fits the atmosphere of the show, and I guess we won't know until it airs...

Enterprise's theme was embarrassing. Could never watch the show because of it.

    Enterprise was a bad theme.

In a Mirror, Darkly, was a good theme tho:

Eh... Comparatively it's pretty poppy in nature (it wasn't even specifically written for the show, and was originally performed by Rod Stewart), while the visual montage is interesting, I don't know if I could really consider it a memorable theme that makes me go "Hey, that's a Star Trek theme." You can do that with TOS, TNG, DS9, and VOY ( [face_sick] ). So while "Faith of the Heart" is certainly in tune with ENT, I don't know if I would go as far to say it was embarrassing, so much as it isn't a memorable them for Trek as a whole.

Faith of the Heart is fine within a Star Trek context- you could set a fine montage of the whole franchise to it.

But as a main theme heard before every episode? It doesn't work, IMO. If they had kept it to a special montage at the conclusion of Broken Bow, it would have been perfect.

I'm emphatically not a fan of VOY, but I always enjoyed the theme music. It was the rest of the show that drew a vacuum.

I grew up on TNG and VOY, so both themes are iconic for me.
