Thrawn is back. And he's bringing Vader with him. Coming summer 2018. #Thrawn2 #BlackandBlue

 

Now, would it still be set before season 3 of rebels or after season 4?

 

I think this is a good opportunity to recanonize Pellaeon.

 

That is the million dollar question! If it is indeed with Vader (rather than Anakin Skywalker), it should be after Season 4, since Thrawn only met Vader at the end of the Thrawn novel, shortly before Season 3...

Naturally, I want this to be the case as I really don't want him to be killed off already, and esp. not by the Rebels crew (or Rukh for that matter).

Without any context but the title...I instantly have expectations that have shot to the moon. During another battle between The Ghost crew and Thrawn, a third entity shows up and just wipes the deck with both Rebels and Empire. Realizing the greater threat to the Galaxy, Thrawn, Ezra, and Kanan set off for the unknown regions to find a solution together. Season 4 ends and the book begins.


Edit. And instantly my expectations are crushed after getting the two sentence blurb.

I am hyped for this novel.

 

Yeah Vader teaming up with Kanan and Ezra doesn't make a lot of sense.

 

That would be neat! Would remove all three from the OT timeline without any of them dying. ;-)

Sadly, I don't think Rebels has that much depth (and they already have their token good Imperial in Kallus).

You just know this is going to end up becoming something of a nu-canon Thrawn Trilogy

Book 1: Thrawn's Origin
Book 2: Thrawn/ Vader Team Up
Book 3: Thrawn's adventures around ANH-ROTJ (assuming he survives Rebels)

Whatever the case I assume this book will have flashbacks to the clone wars when Thrawn encountered Anakin Skywalker and essentially being about Thrawn deducing Vader's idenitity

Probably too much to hope Arihnda will be in it again.
Dammit. Zahn made me love that lady; he should (be contractually bound to) keep writing her.

Positively ECSTATIC to hear this news. Thrawn 1 was my favorite Zahn SW book in a while.

 

More Thrawn! Yay... more fodder for Thrawn/Minerva stories.

 

You do not have me yet, but depending on the offer, I am open to negotiations...

Thrawn is one of the few people that knows Anakin is Vader. I wonder how that will affect Vader now that he has killed and buried the Anakin side of him for over 15 years now...
