JCC JediWarrior And Connemara Missing In Afghanistan (Update: What a ****show.)

This is a huge step in the right direction. But I'm predicting that readjusting to "normal" life is going to take years for all of them. Thank God that they'll have a chance to try.

Finally, this was great news to wake up to, came here immediately after getting the breaking news alert on my phone!

Uhhh, I'm not sure reintegrating into "Western" society is really the takeaway here.

 

I think about them a LOT, especially when my kids are being jerkwads (C and/or E, in case you're reading this because you googled me ten years from now I still love you, but let's be honest you can be jerkwads sometimes) and I can't imagine what it would be like to try to raise a family under those circumstances. I'm so glad they're out, I hope they have the support they need to make this transition, and wish them nothing but the best.

Edit: ugh, i forgot what it's like to be somewhere you can't swear, apologies.

 

ok. best wishes reintegrating, period. Hope the family's safe. I'm not sure how many millions of U.S. tax dollars this couple's stupidity has cost us, but I do hope they're safe.

 

Good news. Hopefully the first face they see after touching down in the U.S. won't be President Trump.

I saw the news just now while at work. I'm on the verge of tears. I don't yet know of what else to say other than that I'm grateful that they'll be coming home.

 

Goddamn, what unexpectedly wonderful news. I hope they can retain some semblance of a balanced, normal life.

 

crazy awesome news. if i were them i think i would probably eat nachos and ben and jerry's and catch up on netflix for a year, but they will probably do cooler stuff.
