We probably would have had a much stronger 80’s revival era had those not derailed things creatively in the live action arena.

I mean, everything up til now is basically the result of Dreamwave’s first Transformers series being the top selling comic at the time, which resulted in Lorenzo picking up the movie rights and a slew of 80’s revival comics that also resulted more film rights sales.

The tremendously disappointing creative results kinda killed that momentum, even if Hasbro has profited greatly (thus recent rumors that they may buy out Mattel).

I mean, I'd buy his middle name being Rostek.

Anyway, I finally finished Assassin's Creed: Origins. Best AC since Black Flag. It's incredibly gorgeous, massive, fun, and really well-written. Bayek is one of the best protagonists of the series. I have quibbles, as always, but they pale in the face of how much fun I had. I absolutely cannot wait for the story DLC, and I really, really hope we get the rumored Mediterranean trilogy of sequels.

Basically agreed. And every real quibble I had came in the last twenty minutes, anyway, and wasn't that big of a deal.

The last 3 episodes of this half-season of Star Trek: Disco were pretty good Star Trek stories. Time travel, landing parties, non-corporeal aliens and crazy mushroom stuff.

    Can't wait for January.

Brad Bird apparently has a little arthouse film next year ... :p :

I'm cautiously hopeful for this one. Pixar keeps firing on all cylinders, but I'm hoping this'll be more than just nostalgia ...

The fact they chose to avoid a timeskip actually makes me hopeful on that front. It instantly sets Incredibles 2 apart from the "Hey, we're revisiting this beloved universe years later" thing.

I just watched the movie "A United Kingdom" that came out last year. At the end, I was shocked to see Rick McCallum listed as one of the producers. I think this is the first I've heard of him in any way since Disney fired him as one of their first post-purchase moves. Also not really the sort of movie I would imagine him producing.

He's producing that upcoming Britannia show with Ian McDiarmid in, as well.

I hadn't heard of this at all. It'll definitely be something I'll check out, it's right up my alley (even though I can't imagine the thought process that goes into giving a character set in Roman Britain the name "Sawyer").

It's disappointing that McDiarmid hasn't gotten more screen roles, although I'm guessing it's at least partly because he prefers the stage. I think the first time I've seen him in anything since ROTS was The Lost City of Z this year, although I know he's done a few episodes of various BBC prestige shows, and I remember hearing him in one of the BBC Radio adaptations of John Le Carre's oeuvre a few years ago.

Was on a lecture about The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck today, followed by a signing by Don Rosa himself. I can now cross out that on my bucket list :D

I don't really have a bucket list, more like a mental one of stuff I really would like to do. Ad it's in practice rather boring stuff like visiting places I have not been to, meeting people I'm a big fan of, getting something created that will inspire other, etc.

My bucket list is to become a Jedi master on this website, strike it rich, and to invent a lightsaber (if possible)

Anthony Carboni and Andi Gutierrez kinda said my name, and one of my usernames appeared in (another!) official Star Wars thingie. I am really tempted to put this and appearing in the acknowledgements of the Essential Guide to Warfare in my CV.

I always thought The Incredibles was an underrated movie. It just may be my favorite of the Pixar films..... I am not entirely happy regarding the rumors that I have heard about the sequel, but it is still way too early to panic about rumors......
