Supply corridors and ways to move the dead or sick makes sense. There was a mental hospital that had 'secret' corridors that allowed the staff to move quickly to a room or place without upsetting the patients.

Care we do another Dare Challenge? *puppy eyes*

Probably not for a bit. Mav is probably going to put up the holiday fic gift exchange sometime later today (probably?), then we have the awards (not to mention some people would probably like to focus on the DDC as it is about to be January again). We usually only do one big mod challenge a year, though the Dare challenge is a favourite of ours and we keep going back to it.

However, this does remind me that January is a great month for a word race. Someone remind me to do that in late December.

Those who die in pain and fear, with no beloved ones by their side in this world or from the next, cannot rest.

This is why I put a lot of effort into stabilizing what remains of my family. I underwent all Catholic traditions necessary: the wake, the talk with the priest, choosing songs and today is the most difficult day.

Yesterday my beloved husband DarthUncle took me to the Harz Mountains to help my inner batteries to recharge in the cold of winter. That helped.

I advice everybody to believes that a place is haunted, speak a prayer (no matter what religion it is from) for the soul who cannot pass on. And if possible, get help from a specialist.

On second thought, that's just my short circuiting brain and my weird sense of humor being weird. Don't mind me. [face_whistling]

Why are we firing missiles? It seems counterproductive for world (galactic) peace.

Dany told me a story of a haunted basement apartment where the ghost was just there but has become angry after several failed attempts to get them out of the apartment. She says that it is most likely because the attempts are trying to force the ghost to leave instead of politely asking the ghost to leave, not to mention apparently it is the ghost's home and wouldn't you pitch a fit if someone tried to kick you forcefully out of your houee?

Watch the video. I promise it makes sense.

So, a young friend is in mental hospital, for what I believe is the third time this year. Her idiot doctor ignored her state for months, accusing her of making things up. It turned out that she's highly psychotic, seeing and hearing things, and she got diagnosed with bipolar affective disorder, current episode manic with psychotic symptoms. The same thing that my idiot doctor thought I had in February, the same thing that I turned out to never have had.

Can't these so-called professionals ever get ANYTHING right? They diagnose things where they don't exist and don't diagnose them where they have a clear proof. [face_shame_on_you]

Seriously, the inability to differ a psychotic from a neurotic is...frightening.

And on days like this, I thank all gods, Mother Nature and the Force for being just neurotic. ^:)^

I just went to Condition Red, unplugged the phone, and headed off to investigate the disturbing sounds of female distress somewhere on my floor.

Two floors down, visible through our sort of glass-sided atrium, a cleaner's vacuum cleaner was making that noise as it got dragged over some sort of corporate linoleum.

    Standing down.

How does "female distress" sound? Is it any different from "male distress"?

I'm being screwed around with again. I should start using tally marks for this. :p

Yeah, male distress would be a different timbre of high-pitched shrieking. And possibly some swearing.

From the way you describe men in your country, I am not surprised that you have not heard male distress.

That was what I was going to say, male distress usually involves a long string of swear words. ;)

I wonder if this is the building where Joan Rivers lived? I thought I heard someting about it.

Sounds like something is wrapped around the rollers. Not a good sound, sometimes followed by the smell of burning rubber & a trip to the repair shop.

I had a check up yesterday, first time in...two years? And the first time I'd gotten on a scale in two years!:_|:_| Salads, soups, long walks and maybe some swimming seem to be in my future. Eggnog and peppermint bark, not so much. [face_sigh]

Mistress_Renata unless Joan Rivers once lived a short walk from Stephen King's house than the answer is no.

Sometimes a man's scream sounds like a woman's scream. Although it's usually because they were injured in a very specific place.

Send me that peppermint bark, I'll take care of it.

Seriously, I hope it's not an alarming weight. Don't go on a super-strict diet, do it gradually!

So, I know I have been rather cranky over the past few days (I'm sorry if it seemed like I took it out on anyone here - I actually ended up having a very long conversation with a friend of mine the other day, which make me feel a whole lot more... human).

And now I have to post this gif (probably only Mav will get the reference, but the sentiment is pretty clear):

I managed to take advantage of the free insulin pump offer without the proof of purchase (I just needed the serial number and the lady looked it up in the records they got from the other company). I placed the order in today for the pump and the fist batch of supplies, and it will all be here monday (then I have to go for training for this new system sometime next week at the hospital). BUT I DID IT, and I have 9 days left worth of supplies for my current pump (I was going to order more if I didn't get it sorted out by the end of the week, but now I don't have to).

I'm glad you were able to get the pump for free, Bri! I'm sure that's a load off your mind, now!

Does anyone here watch the DC comic TV shows (Supergirl, Flash, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow) and see the 4 episode cross over this week? It was pretty awesome! I liked how it was like a mini series involving everyone rather than each show focusing on their characters with some crossover.

Canada has a great health care system; or so says the lady originally from Canada who regularly visits her family there and i have to agree with her based off the story she told earlier this week.

Well I woke to some upsetting news, I was my MIL's winggirl today, she went to test drive a vehicle and because my SIL 'Kitty' was going to be hanging out with a friend we were leave early so I checked facebook and the first post was an article about a fire in my old hometown with a picture of the house I grew up in that my parents still own and are renting out. I freaked and called my parents, my Dad answered and gave me some information before handing the phone to my Mom who apologized for not calling earlier because she thought I was still asleep, which is fair when you consider that when she can with Alex to help my In-laws with some projects I didn't come out until almost ten but i was awake and just lazying around ( I didn't know where she was there yet). The fire was around a chimney and because it's an old house the fire departments had to break open walls to make sure that the fire wasn't traveling horizontal or vertical through the walls.

    EDIT No one was hurt!
