ST ST Complimentary Discussion Thread

This thread has become a tradition following the TFA and R1 versions. Time to share with us your favorite moments from The Last Jedi.

got several, but one that sticks out as a bit of good comedy is Luke telling Rey to sit down and close her eyes and reach out, only to have her actually reach out with her hand touching a leaf which Luke is holding and then Luke asking her if she feels the force with Rey saying "Yes!" then Luke responds with "wrong! that's not how you do it"

ps. I don't remember the exact lines. This is just off the top of my head after having seen it one time today.

 

Some of the jokes were funny.

That's about it.

 

To focus on the positive: [spoiler[ Leia's hologram from ANH - to see her in the prime of her youth after her passing .. I cried [/spoiler]

 

they went very guardians with the jokes especially rey telling kylo to put on a shirt

Luke and Artoo together .. you could almost hear old Luke from ESB there..

 

Three from the top of my head:
- Kylo and Rey vs Praetorian Guards. 2,5 hours of this please^^
- Holdo using hyperspace to destroy Snoke's ship. Very, very epic!
- Luke teasing Rey about reaching out and feeling the Force (post #2). Best joke in the film!

 

Nice attempt to bomb the thread. This is a positivity thread. There is also a thread for you sad sacks, in which you've already made your opinion well known, I saw.

 

I really liked the Caretakers, personally. Their hatred of Rey was hilarious. More seriously, I loved Paige's death. It was beautifully done.

I enjoyed this part too.

I also liked many of Kylo's moments when he's triggered into rage- I thought Adam was brilliant.

Rey extending her hand and then Kylo taking off his glove to touch skin to skin.

It might be the English literary buff in me, but the symbolism I read in that is off.the.charts.

 

Not much for this movie, I'm afraid. Goodness I hope a rewatch sways me.

- Rey to Luke: I've seen your daily routine, you are not busy.
- Holdo using lightspeed to wreck the FO fleet.
- Flashback Luke lighting up ol' green... in spite of the context around it.
- Rey and Kylo taking on the guards.
- Random little thing: The return of the stun setting on blasters for the first time since the opening sequence of ANH.
- Luke and Rey's little squabble.

 

Top five in no order:

Snoke’s death - unexpected and refreshing. Truly made the ST different to the classic trilogy.
Yoda’s return - he looked goofy but it was good to see him back nonetheless.
Luke v Ben - Luke cemented his reputation as a legend to the galaxy, even if he’s actually flawed. Bittersweet scene.
Luke aboard the Falcon - his interaction with R2 is the only thing that really made him somewhat happy.
Chewbacca eating a Porg - no explanation needed.

 

Did I hear correctly- did Luke say 'laser sword' when talking to Rey?

 

He did.

 

I liked that.

 

I did, too. Also how he mocked the idea one person could take down the First Order on their own. I've been thinking the same for a while. Finding Luke wasn't going to solve all their problems even if he co-operated.

 

I liked that he called Palpatine "Darth Sidious", and I liked that he pointed out the faults of the PT Jedi Order.

 

People seem to bash the scene with Leia in space, but I loved it. I got chills. Seriously. The music used is absolutely perfect (from 3.04 on The Supremacy track). It was a celebration of Leia as a character. Carrie may have died in real life, but this character survived. It was so feel good and uplifting. I don't care about the realism of it.

 

Snoke's death - truly unexpected at that point in the film and delivered with such delicious brutality. Watching the top half of his body fall off was pretty disgusting and the fact that it was on screen for so long even more so. Body horror like that is rare in SW and gave the scene even more impact for me.

Luke on Crait, just all of it. Too many aspects of it to list, but particularly the duel without it being a duel.

Holdo lightspeeding into the Supremacy. Beyond awesome.

Favourite lines?
- "Page turners, they were not"
- "We are masters, we watch our students grow beyond us" (paraphrasing)
- "You've always been scum..." "Rebel scum". I wanted to applaud!
- "I'm Rey", "I know". Definitely getting vibes there.
- Most of Snoke's lines, I really enjoyed him.
- "save the things you love, dont destroy the things you hate"

 

If the hatred for the PT wasn't/isn't enough. Imagine if Anakin would've pulled a Superman, like Leia did, in episode two or three. Oh boy..
Silliest scene in the entire saga.

 

For you. But not for me. I like it for the reasons I've already explained.
