ST Which beloved "fan favourite" should they bring back to kill off in Episode IX?

So we know TPTB just LOVE to kill off a "fan favourite" in these movies (first Han... Then... ) and leave everyone feeling thoroughly fed up and depressed.

I would guess the broad idea was to kill off Leia in the climax of Episode IX but due to Carrie's untimely death that's not going to be an option now.

So which beloved fan favourite from the original movies should LFL/Disney/Abrams bring back to kill off in Epsiode IX and why?

Keep in mind, they "killed" the blue lightsaber in TLJ.


Also, irony in that at the end of TLJ, the Falcon is the only thing the Resistance has.

I actually use to think they were intending to kill off all of the Big 3, but came to believe they'd spare Leia and just transition her into the new leader of the reborn Republic.

They need to go ahead and kill off R2 or 3PO. As much as I love the ST so far, they've totally dropped the ball with them. The over the top BB8-as-the-new-R2 material in TLJ really sealed my fears. I still can't tell you where the hell R2 was after his touching scene with Luke on the Falcon.

And 3PO hasn't been effectively used since 1983. He's literally still around for no reason at all besides fan service.

It breaks my heart to say this as I love both characters.

 

Is Nien Nunb still alive? Kill him already.

 

JJ loves destroying ships so I'm assuming the Falcon will be coming to a disastrous end in the next film. Wouldn't be surprised if Chewie is at the cockpit.

 

Yes, he's alive did you not watch the "Last Jedi", he is a Resistance fighter was seen in action and with the survivors on the Falcon leaving Crait.

 

There are two things I believe Disney LucasFilm will stay on the course per George's request:

1. Yoda's race will never be revealed
2. Artoo and Threepio outlive everyone

 

Yes, I remember him in action on Crait, but I guess I missed him in my headcount of the survivors on the Falcon.
So yes, he's my vote. I never understood why he was brought back for the ST in the first place.

 

Hopefully no one and it's one of the new characters for once as messed up as it is for me to say that.

 

When R2D2 and C3PO are killed then the Skywalker saga will officially be over with.

 

I am wondering that so many vote for Chewbacca to be killed. Are those people really Star Wars fans or just Trekkies that want to troll the fandom.
The last thing I want to see is Chewie dying.

Chewbacca, R2, and C-3PO have got to survive the whole Saga... especially the droids, as per Lucas' wishes.

I say Ice Cream Maker Guy. He's had it coming for years.

I voted other. I am tired of them killing off OT characters for dramatic impact as a way to bolster badly written scripts.

 

Ice Cream Maker Man is already dead. He was Rey's alcoholic father.

 

I was sad, but understood the narrative purpose for Han's death.

Luke's death nearly destroys the overall narrative of the entire saga. It rips apart the thematic structure that George Lucas established.

I thought The Last Jedi was a fantastic movie right up until Luke faded away.

Luke needs to return like Gandalf the White in the next movie to maintain the overall theme and message of Star Wars. He doesn't need to steal Rey's thunder, but he definitely needs to be the one to unite and establish the new order of Jedi.

 

If Jar Jar comes back and gets decapitated by Ren (only after being torchured with force lightning for an hour) I would be so happy.
