ST Chris Terrio to Co-write Episode IX

Abrams is definitely capable of writing a script by himself but for most his career he will often team up with 2 other writers like Robert Orci and Alex Kurtzman or Damon Lindeloff. He did seem to get along quite well with Lawrence Kasdan but after the Solo debacle, will Kasdan have any desire to get involved in another Star Wars movie? Lucasfilm of course could just bring in someone else to write the screenplay but I don't see Abrams as someone will direct a script he didn't have a hand in writing.

Not Lindelof! He already torpedoed the alien franchise with Prometheus. He mystery boxes too. And now old man Ridley Scott can't find his bearing with the alien franchise

 

It doesn't matter, as there is no one we can make him collaborate with. As it now stands Disney has decided to hit us with the good cop, bad cop routine. Abrams-good cop, Johnson-bad cop. I just hope Abrams is still the good cop and Rian hasn't seduced him............er to his way of thinking. Oh, who am I kidding, were doomed!

I'd hate to say that the guy that started the Petition on change.org had a good idea, but if this keeps up...

We get BvS and JL guy or we get the guys in charge of the Transformers franchise. No.

I'm still good with RJ and what he did in TLJ. I like to believe there's a bigger plan in place, and always was.

 

Huh? The guys in charge of the TF franchise have their hands full with Bumblebee spinoff an the next TF film. That is a non-issue. It isn't an either or.

But putting this guy as a co-writer is a really really curious move.

 

Let's just hope that Terrio is going to write a decent script with JJ.

 

Where is Kasdan?

 

I think Kasdan said that he is retiring after the Solo movie.

 

Just referring to who was mentioned above as names thrown out there.

 

The day TLJ was released JJ said he was going to pitch his idea for IX. With filming starting in June it seems kinda late. I hope he and Terrio have a treatment at this stage.

 

I miss his sense of humor so much : he was so good at making us laugh with the characters, and rarely mocked/shamed them. Also, who's gonna care about Finn if he's not there ?

Anyway, good luck to Chris Terrio : he's got some pretty big shoes to fill.

 

As it turned out, much of what was planned for TFA was indeed based off of Lucas ideas (Luke on Ach-To, a hermit, training a girl) and much of what JJ had for TFA was also based off of much of what Arndt had. Likewise, pretty much ALL of what Rian had was based off of TFA. I suspect that a great deal of what JJ and Terrio will come up with is based off of the best parts of what Trevorrow came up with.

 

As long as it does Leia and the franchise justice, then I'm good. I actually trusted Trevorrow with Leia, based off of his comments about making her central to the story.

 

Chris Terrio has a pretty nice challenge to face. I wish him all the best.

 

If Leia was to be the central story, then I suspect that her passing will still be the central story and will heavily impact Kylo.

Some folks have tossed around the idea of a flashback scene that has Leia, Han, and Luke and baby Ben. That would be incredibly emotional.

 

That would open up for John Williams to make a new theme reminiscent of The Force Theme and Han and Leia's theme. Agreed, incredibly emotional.

Honestly, I think Chris Terrio and JJ Abrams will do their very best as this might actually be the last film of the Skywalker Saga. How long should this movie be? 3 hours to wrap it all up? I don't mind it as long as it's superbly well made and gives justice to everything that has come before. It's a final bow, and will open the door for future stories to come.

 

Ah that is too bad.
