Agreed. He has slowed down his pace, but he is still incredible at it. Pretty incredible for an 85 year old.

He still has projects in the pipeline too, like The Post. He may still be at this for awhile.

Good score that. "The Presses Roll" is more epic than anything in TLJ.

I mean is the Post in his pipeline if it comes out in like 8 days? :p

Interesting question, but until it comes out, I would say that it is in a technical sense. But for intents and purposes when a movie gets its final cut, it probably ceases to be a "pipeline" project.

I mean once the score is fully delivered, it's not in John's pipeline anymore....

    Depends on how its defined.

So when is a composer done with his work on the movie?

Once it is recorded, edited, slotted into the final cut of the film. We're well past the date when the film itself has been delivered to distribution to theaters. I mean it's been screened for critics. The world premiere was weeks ago, right? I mean his work was done well before that...

Legally on Spotify? You mean the score, right? Movie is not out yet, and how can you seperate a score from the film itself, i.e., the score as part of the film.

Well they used to release scores a week or two before the film. Hell the Star Wars films did that until Episode 7.

Well there is an argument on both sides, but the more I think about it, the better approach is characterizing it as a "pipeline" only until the composer's work is finished recording the score. Of course the other definition of pipeline is "future projects." So one could reasonably argue a pipeline project ends when the work begins.

I can enjoy scores pretty easily without the context of the film. Music is music

I prefer to listen to the score after I see the movie. Problem with how Disney is doing things is that I see the film at 7:30pm on the 14th and the score doesn't come out til the 15th. So I can't listen to the score on the way home from seeing the film like I used to. I don't get why they don't release the score CD on the Tuesday before the film comes out. It's only 2 days before we see the movie.

Spoilers, ofc. They may have learned from Qui-Gon's Noble End, but the music itself can contain spoilers.

And if people don't want music spoilers, they can choose not to buy it or to buy it and not listen. Like I did. And again, we're talking two days before the film's "midnight show" release. Not weeks and months.

Same. I am not a huge fan of either TFA or TLJ for instance, but the music for both is fantastic.

Personally I think this film is the first good opportunity to have music that departs a little from the classic JW style Star Wars score.

Can't wait to hear this score! John Powell and John Williams are my 2 favorite active film composers so the prospect of them working on the same score is incredibly exciting.

Just updating with our first taste of the score. To me it sounds even better than what John Williams did for the sequels, it just sounds straight out the OT to me.
