Kudos to Inty for the song. Caedus is the interesting point. Because Kyle was defeated by Caedus but actually survived. Mara however was beating Caedus before he got lucky and stuck her. On even ground, I still lean Mara. And frankly, when you look at Mara's accomplishment against the Vong while dying- holding off a disease for months/years? while still going on missions and fighting? That's really hard to top and shows just how powerful she is. And that doesn't get into her assassin training. And yeah, Malachor might benefit her a bit more than Kyle as well.

This match... Joruus being the crazy clone helps Ben. So does the fact Nyax isn't much better. The problem I see is Ben doing this without prep. I mean even Luke struggled a bit with these guys. Ben's enemies have been fairly minor and his wins are not that impressive. With Ben the potential is there, but I just don't think it's enough without prep.

5. Cade Skywalker vs. 5. Darth Caedus

Caedus is better trained, has more tricks and more skill. Cade has his cool bringing people back from death thing and that's really it. But he can't bring himself back. Caedus outmaneuvers Cade and wins.

This one is the other tough one for me. If it comes down to duelists? Maul probably. But beyond that, Maul is just a tool. We've seen that much clearly. He's not someone who has studied other areas of the dark side in the way that Exar Kun did. However- the location gives Maul an advantage as we know he's been there for a while. I just don't think that's enough because Maul truly never grew past his apprentice level training.

lmao. Spectacular arg, though I remember you did basically a fanfic of Vader vs. Anakin a few years back and that might have to be your #1. The riding-Thon-into-battle-and-then-he-becomes-a-Thon-Steak one earlier is up there too.

Anyway this a legendary match, but without waxing poetic I think it turns on two key things— one, like Inty brought up, is that Kyle doesn’t enjoy any of the normal advantages he might have with prep. I mean the dude can arm himself to the teeth and Mara can be like “Hey check out this cooler thing.” And then blow him up with it or whatever.

The second is that…this kinda happened already! The first Jedi Knight game had a whole expansion where you basically played as Mara Jade, running around doing stuff while Kyle got turned to the Dark Side. When you finally meet back up with him on Dromund Kaas, you gotta fight him a few times (and since you’re playing as Mara, you can imagine who wins). She eventually turns him back to the Light but he’s like…nah I’m cool with this Jedi stuff and that’s what sets up his layover in Jedi Outcast.

Now obviously these are more experienced versions of themselves, but the presence of Malachor V makes it similar even in terms of location/dark side forces. And I have to think Mara, cunning as she is and ruthless as she can be, will use that prior interaction/turn to the DS against Kyle. She might already have this battle straight-up (as she did in those original duels) with her prep, but adding in that mental component really seals it for me.

In maybe the Booby-Trappiest Match of All-Time, I’m going with Mara. And somewhere GenMadine is reading that inappropriately.

Sky vs. Mika
Ben (not KyloBen) vs. C’baoth/Nyax

The more I thought about this one, the more I’m picking up what you’re putting down Sky. Without prep time to really formulate a plan, the planet itself is gonna make Nyax crazy distracted and Joruus is gonna have a rough go at doing anything with him. Where we might normally be talking about Joruus being able to mind-control Nyax and put up an interesting Onimi-Shimmra-esque front, instead we’re talking about a monster dead set on doing what he wants while a clinically crazy dude tries to influence him but also not get killed by Ben.

Honestly the trump’s best bet is Nyax surprising Ben with one of his dozen sabers and knocking him off that way. I do think Ben’s experience with Abeloth makes him qualified to resist the mind-control abilities from either of his opponents (again, with them crucially not united as they could be), and if he’s able to break down the simplistic movements of Nyax like Tahiri did, he’s saber jab away from making it him vs. just the clone.

Also bonus points again on the arg.

Darth Maul vs. Exar Kun, prep all around

This one is nuts! On one hand Kun went up against Ulic with amulets he conceivably has on him here and stalemated him, in addition to some other power displays.

On the other, Maul handled a Kenobi/Qui-Gon trump (yes, Padawan Kenobi but still!) and with his resurrection gets a whole bonus swath of skill displays.

I could honestly go either way on this, but the way I keep envisioning the match happening like this— Maul and Kun go at it, but Maul isn’t tripped up by Kun’s double-bladed saber (he’s better at wielding it himself) and it pisses Kun off. Exar goes to channel his amulets, but Maul keeps the pressure on (given that he’s aware of those amulets with prep) so that Kun never really gets to unleash them in a way that’ll fry Maul up. And even if they do, he’ll just come back in like a decade and kill him as a half-robot anyway!

Hardest of the round for me though.

Ahsoka over Hoth/Farfalla— This one’s not too shabby, but the cartoons are just too much breadth for Hoth to overcome with the little bit we’ve seen of him. The Malachor difference might even trip her up a bit but Snips will find a way.

In a post full of gems, this one is just fantastic.

 

And now we just need Evil for the tiebreaker.

 

Gonna give this to Kun. His double sided fighting style is very different than maul's with an emphasis on using his cunning and deception to take down his opponent, where as maul uses a more brutish approach and tries to overpower his opponent.

In the end I just see Kun winning with a trick that mail didn't see coming.

Think we need a vote on Ben vs CrazyTrump too.

 

Yeah, if I knew y'all were gonna vote for Yoda (sheesh, Yoda? Really? ) over Lord Skere "El Tigre 'The Tiger'" Kaan, I would have put something up for my guy. Maybe even something fancy like Inty did- a whole album or even an interpretive dance perhaps

Well. This is not a very interesting team battle.

I have the best character in the match - Luke. My Top Three (Luke, Satele, MJS) are each better than his top three (Luke > mace, Satele > Kyle, MJS > Ventress). I have the better experience, the better natural connections, the better leadership, the better tacticians, and the better cohesion.

Seems an open-and-shut case.

 

Vote is for Inty here, for all the reasons he just said (except I'd probably say Kyle > Satele, and RX's tactical ability is maybe nearer a wash)

 

I too am voting for Inty's team. Though I'm gonna say that Satele and Kyle are pretty much even.

Right, we changed this up in the previous version of the draft because people weren't posting much and others wanted to get it over with. I'm getting that feeling here too. We have two complete no shows in numbers for the past few rounds. Which is a pain in the butt for me.
