Discussion Boba Fett - Possible Spin-Off (Cancelled - See Page 57 for Details)

Since I started this thread there seems to be a small campaign to have Manu Bennett cast as Boba, even a petition sent to Disney which I didn't even know about until recently. If anyone still needs convincing...

 

I'd quite like a Jango Fett back story. Build up of why he was the clone template, fall of the Mandalorians, incorporate the other bounty hunters and inhabitants of Mos Eisley, Mos Espa etc.

As it's removed from the Skywalker lineage and the usual Empire/rebellion conflict, I think it has huge potential as the PT and ST are feeling like clones of the same story.

 

I don't do petitions - But count me in!! He is a fantastic choice

 

Well as cool as that would be he's only 9 years younger then Temuera Morrison so there kind of would be no point in a recast.

 

So you say a 59 year old can actively portray someone in their 40s? Considering when it might be made it could be 4 or 5 years from now when Temuera will be 63 or 64. Manu is perfect for the role both physically and the charisma he would bring.

 

Look as long as the character looks like Morrison I am happy. You guys remember that horrible rumor that they were going to kill off the original Boba?

 

As long as there is a world in which Boba Fett is not mocked and denigrated simply for being a character George Lucas created for his saga, that will be a cool world to me.

If they make a film about Boba, that's great for fans like me, but if they do not, that is quite alright as well.
His appearances in The Holiday Special and The Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi and Attack Of The Clones and The Clone Wars series and in the novels and comics is plenty. Anything else is bonus Boba.

I have always kinda questioned whether they would even have Boba be helmetless in the movie since fans seem to feel it destroys the magic of the character to see him with no helmet.

Course the Prequels have already given him a face but its not the first time that Disney have tried to play it safe.

 

I don't see how Lucasfilm playing it safe once somehow means that this is something they would do constantly. None of the movies but TFA really played it safe, if anything, they went for the complete opposite.

 

People would also be super pissed if they got someone who sounded nothing like him or looked nothing like him.

 

Yeah thats the thing about casting a new actor to play a role thats meant to be a clone of a character we seen previously... he has to at least be believable as a clone.

I personally don't think that Boba Fett was set up as a strong enough character to get his own movie. I'd much rather see him as the main villain in the Han Solo movie. *crosses fingers*

 

I hope Boba shows up in the SOLO film.

Manu's the best choice to play Boba, I'd say. Even though Boba's a serious guy, I think the film should still be fun, with humor as well.

Yea! I hope they make it fun and full of so called fan service.
Maybe even Bossk shows up!? Imperial probe droids. Sabaac games. Smuggling.
Hutts even. Who knows.

If it is half as good as R1, I'll be happy, as R1 is incredible.

I would be kinda surprised if Fett isn't in the Solo movie in some limited fashion, the two characters have always been tied to eachother ever since ESB was released, and people ran wild with all kinds of rivalry stories between them.

In the dealings of the underworld, something could happen that requires both of them to be there, even though their fields of expertise are different. Still, they often deal with the same employer. He could simply be called in for extra backup/firepower, which gives Solo an insight in what kind of merciless character he can be.

 

I always took it as just a job with solo.
