Where exactly is your trust coming from?

Optimism. I don't have any sources in case you thought of that It's just seems like the most logical thing to me that the criticism (which is not limited to these forums) has been seriously taken into consideration by now.

 

Well if we can't get realistic art I'd hope for something kind of cartoonish. Anyone liked KOTOR Vector?

I honestly think I'd rather take KOTOR Vector than this... thing:

 

Well, at least the style of KOTOR Vector was consistent. While I'm not a fan of it, I'd definitely take something true and authentic rather than quick, sloppy tracing

LOL. It's been 10 years since Vector. Who are you going to pray to when in 10 years someone asks "Anyone liked the art in Ashes of Jedha?"

Anyone liked Legacy Wrath of the Dragon? That's something I can really get behind.

 

Many, many people! As you might have noticed, @spicer is a huge Jan fan, but he's far from the only one.

Exactly. The biggest problem with KOTOR Vector is that the caricature-like art style didn't fit the narrative. If the story was a parody of a sort, it would have been fine. But technically, it was good.

The Wrath of the Dragon wasn't drawn by Duursema. But yes, I liked that one a lot too.

 

I'm not sure if I can say anything about Larocca that hasn't been said already. It was irksome in the Darth Vader series, but the writing made up for it. It became more obvious on Vader Down, when he did this with the human characters His work on Screaming Citadel made an already terrible story that much worse. Then it got worse from there. If he focused on one-shot issues (like the Cassian & K-2SO, or an annual issue) I think you'd see a remarkable difference in quality.

As for his hypothetical replacement, I wish that Mark Brooks (from the Han Solo series), Angel Unzueta (from Poe Dameron's 2nd Half), and Alex Maleev (who worked on the Lando series) would take his place.

Oops, I misread your post. I thought you meant the criticism came from another artist.

Anyhow, yeah, everywhere I see discussion of the comic series, the art comes up. But as I've said before, I think TPTB at Marvel like this art and see it as a good thing.

 

Reminds me of the Paul Gulacy lazy eyes. Even the Abyssin had lazy eyes in CE.

 

Here's where my problem lies with the art:

I won't stop buying the comics. I'm a completist anyway, I like my weekly Star Wars fix, etc. etc. But the art I can't stand - is there anything I can do about it? I don't just want to sit on a forum and complain, because I doubt that gets me anyway (and I'm sure doesn't make a good impression on people who have any say). I'm not sure saying anything on social media would mean much, it's probably way too easy to group actual complaints with trolls and those who are rude for the sake of being rude, right?

I'd love to enjoy comics as a whole again. I hate to sound like a broken record with "Ashes of Jedha", saying that I really like the story but hate the art. I miss the days of the Han Solo mini, with both incredible writing AND art. Or "Showdown on the Smuggler's Moon".

 

The good news is that if you are respectful in your criticisms, both Heather Antos and Jordan White keep a watchful eye on these boards.
