This is the most Jello thing I've seen outside this forum in, like, ever.

So a meteor tried jumping to hyperspace IN EARTH'S ATMOSPHERE last night, and blew up. Should have known better.

But really, I heard a big BOOM and felt a rumble, and had no idea what it was. Thought maybe it was a gas or chemical explosion. Turned out to be a meteor, with the explosion feeling like the equivalent of a 2.0 earthquake.

"Hunter and hunted, bounding across the roof of the sky.

A French reconnaissance vessel is bounced by a German cutter while shadowing their fleet. The Germans hope to capture the interloper intact, or at least reasonably so. Each power had only a piece of the Martian puzzle at the beginning of the conflict, and to see the picture they formed together was at least as advantageous as victory in the field.

That's great! Reminds me a ton of the old 1940s/50s Chesley Bonestell spacecraft illustrations he did for Willy Ley and Wernher von Braun.

Also reminds me a bit of the Dark Horse comic Scarlet Traces: The Great Game from ten (or more!) years ago - a ton of great 1940s dieselpunk spaceship designs there.

I did, too. One of the great female sci-fi/fantasy writers of the 20th century - strike that, one of the great sci-fi/fantasy writers of the 20th century, period. I spent much of my early teens reading Earthsea, as well as Andre Norton's Witch World series.

    :(

I loved her 6 EarthSea novels, and I bought a couple of her sci-fi books too that I've been meaning to read.

The Left Hand of Darkness, The Dispossessed, and The Word for World is Forest (which James Cameron shamelessly stole from for Avatar).

Someone noticed that the jaeger on the left in this Pacific Rim 2 poster looks a lot like HK-47... Oh, and the sword has a lightsaber-like glow too.

Well, the first movie did have a very blatant video game reference integrated into the robot, so it wouldn't surprise me.

I have and mean to read The Left Hand of Darkness, The Dispossessed, and The Telling (her most recent novel, I think it came out in 2008).

I have read the six novels of the EarthSea series... superbly written, original stories, and great worldbuilding.

I wonder if people are going to complain that the new Pacific Rim blows up the original's happy ending.

    Gamiel question time!

Do anybody know any Latvian or Lithuanian books in the science-fiction, fantasy or adventure genre?

The sequel to my original Star Wars-esque novel, LUCIFER'S STAR, LUCIFER'S NEBULA is out today.

What do the worst heroes in the galaxy do when they're asked to solve a galactic war?

Ask "How much do we get paid?"
