@I Are The Internets I'm gonna need your take on the Razzie nominations. I've essentially seen none of them, of course, but you've probably seen the majority of them. The one I have seen is mother! which, crazy as it is, has no business near the Razzies. Lawrence is very good in the film, whatever you think of it, and Aronofsky's visual style in the film is really visceral and raw. Again, I didn't particularly like the film myself, but it's not really the kind of movie that should get Razzies.

 

The Razzie’s surprised me. It seems that the actual worst films aren’t getting all the nominations, but rather the more well known films that people didn’t like. Some of the acting nominations have no business being there at all.

Pretty good and diverse group this year I think. One of the better I’ve seen actually. Nice seeing Logan get an adaptation nom.

Wouldn’t bet against Get Out being the surprise winner.

 

Well, it's nice to see that Logan and Get Out get some Oscar nominations considering they were both released early in 2017.

With Logan getting an nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay it makes me wonder if the voters even read the source material. I mean, there is very little resemblance between Logan and Old Man Logan. The plot and premise of motivations of the main character is very different.

 

They should just give the entire Dark Universe to GDT.

Outside Slumdog and Crouching Tiger, you don't see to much of these getting mainstream attention, what does it indicate about the global movie zeitgeist.

You're the first person I've seen to have that opinion. Did you mean you don't get all the hype over the film?

 

Yeah, I don't get the hype. The only thing it did was make me want to see a "Bioshock" movie.

 

Anyone think The Last Jedi will be up for an Oscar?

 

Still need to see Lady Bird, Darkest Hour, Call Me By Your Name, and Three Bears Are Eating My Parents.

 

I still have to see everything except for Get Out and Dunkirk. I’m doing an Oscar marathon with my mates, so we’ll be watching as many as we can from almost every category. We did the same last year and it was pretty fun. I ended up liking quite a few films that I probably would’ve never given a chance.

Last year I liked 6/9 of the best picture nominees, which is pretty good. Fences, Manchester By the Sea and Hell or High Water were the only ones that let me down. La La Land was my favourite. I had absolutely no interest in seeing it because it was a musical and I thought it looked lame. But wow, was I wrong! I ended up giving it a 9/10.

 

I think they mean it was adapted from Children of Men.

Shape of Water finally arrived here. Checking that out today.

 

In France we still have one month to wait before shape of water is released pfffffffff.....and they translated the title in french, which is happening less and less these days here, and i dont want to ask a ticket for "la forme de l'eau" haha im watching 3 billboards next week, pleasingly enough they kept the original title...

 

It’s not, but Williams is up for best score.
