You certainly can. I still play both Kotor games on my Windows 10 computers, one a laptop and one a desktop. No compatibility modes or anything necessary

I think the first is my favorite of the three, 2 has the best selection of missions (having basically all the iconic battles) and probably would be my favorite if it weren't for the difficulty. I've always been pretty good at flight simulators. I was pretty big into PC flight simulators prior to ever getting an N64/GameCube, including Star Wars games like X-Wing and TIE Fighter. And I aced the other two games in the series, I don't know why but this one gave me fits. Particularly the two Endor levels. Especially the first one. Going back to the Wing Commander games I've always hated "escort missions", combine that with a cloud of kamikaze TIEs and it was enough to drive me insane. Then when you get done how about a couple of Star Destroyers for you? After that came the Death Star assault itself and about 2000 crashes. I like a challenge but it was a pretty frustrating game.

By contrast, the take-down of the Super Star Destroyer in RS3 is a pretty fun and breezy mission, made quite amusing to boot by the voice actor for Admiral Ackbar consistently referring to you only as 'pilot'. :D
