Yeah I don't think so Elle. This film isn't going to make me change my mind about Han and Leia when it's been a large part of the story for all these years. These are the kinds of articles I can't stand. Not everything has to turn into "let's bash Han and Leia's romance."

 

Click bait articles love to trash "old" couples in favour of shiny new stuff so I'm preparing for a million "Han and Qi'Ra are a WAY better couple than Han and Leia!" articles coming out when the movie airs.

Okay, I really hope there is no post-movie triangle where Han goes back to her after he and Leia split up or something. I'm fine with an Indy girl romance, but I hope their love story isn't portrayed as some epic love story that only ends because she died, and that Leia is his second choice he settles for because Qi'ra died or something. Though it is funny that Leia's first love (Kier) sounds so similar to Han's first love (Qi'ra)

 

Oh my god they do sound really close!! If I remember correctly didn't Kier Domadi have dark brownish hair?

ETA- yes he is described as having dark brown hair, tan skin

 

How is her name pronounced? Is it Kyra? Rhymes with Ira?

 

I'm guessing its pronounced like Keira as in Keira Knightly

Yup, though he was described as Latinx. At least his personality was completely different from Han's, I hope at the very least they make Qi'Ra's personality distinctive from Leia and not a Leia clone to make it seem like Han has a "type" (I'm already seeing "Ooh, Han has a type for short white brunettes", which blah.)

I had the same vibe. I could dig that if it’s just a style thing, but on a female character who’s job is to be a love interest? Noooooo...

It’s just one trailer though. Hopefully she’s more interesting than it seems. I keep thinking of that one picture where she looks so cool with the red cloak and the droid. That shot makes her seem like she has her own thing going on. The trailer shots just have her staring at Han all impressed and in perfect love interest fashion assessing him for him because he’s so interesting.

Dear God, they better not. I heard Kasdan hated that Harrison Ford changed his dialogue, so I doubt it. Besides, they already used it in the old EU Han Solo trilogy with Han's love interest and it was lame back then too

Also, will groan if Qi'Ra says "I know what you really are...A scoundrel."

 

Since it seems they grew up together, she probably knows that he's really a good person and not a scoundrel.

 

I was watching the trailer going "please don't say it, please don't say it!"

 

The whole thing about Han getting another love interest is that people will instantly get protective over Leia and i do wonder how they will treat this love interest that doesn't feel like they are trying to outdo him and Leia.

 

Nailed on I think. Id be ok with that to be fair. NOT the "he knows someone loves him" line anywhere though please.

I don't have a problem with younger Han having a love interest. It didn't bother me when I read Princess Leia of Alderaan that Leia had a boyfriend. The thing that bugs me is that now it will turn into some Han/Leia bashing contest depending on how Qi'ra is portrayed interacting with Han.

Yeah, that's my main worry too. Leia's love interest in PLOA made an interesting backstory, and I'm not opposed to Han getting one, but given how the press has gone on a Han/Leia bashing spree with a million articles of how Han and Leia sucked as a couple and were always doomed to fail, and that they were the worst parents ever who turned Ben to the Dark Side, I'm bracing for a ton of click bait articles about how Han and Qi'Ra prove that Han and Leia were always doomed because he never got over Qi'Ra and Leia was a second choice. Especially since we know Han and Leia didn't work out in the end.

They're definitely not siblings, because every other actress who auditioned for Emilia Clarke's role was a WOC (Tessa Thompson, Naomi Scott, Zoe Kravitz, Jessica Pava).

 

What is Qira is the mother of Rey and Han really is the Father? WOOOOOOAAAAAH!
