    Just announced.

    http://www.starwars.com/news/game-o...e-and-produce-a-new-series-of-star-wars-films

"It was announced today that Benioff and Weiss, creators of the smash-hit, Emmy Award-winning television series Game of Thrones, will write and produce a new series of Star Wars films.

These new films will be separate from both the episodic Skywalker saga and the recently-announced trilogy being developed by Rian Johnson, writer-director of Star Wars: The Last Jedi."

I sense SW overload sooner rather than later . . .

Seeing how strong Dan & Dave are at adapting other's work and putting it on the screen, sense that this may focus on KOTOR.

Love GoT and excited for more Star Wars films however I do worry about SW fatigue. I'll be there though watching them :) I'm definitely going to have to give up collecting action figures though, the wallet can't keep up *lol*

I am very glad I never got into collecting, but I do spend all that saved money on books.

I've been a little unsure of what to make of previously announced upcoming films, so having more options is a good thing. Overload might be less of a problem than it seems once there is literally too much to keep up with and most of us have to choose which parts to follow instead.

This is cool, because even though these guys didn't write the basic/original story for Game of Thrones, they are well versed in making something operatic at a huge scale, which is Star Wars, just in space rather than in a Medieval type world.

Although I've not played the KOTOR games myself, that sounds like a good idea for a show by these guys. Something Old Republic, since Johnson's trilogy apparently won't be that.

My reaction to this announcement is, hmm....

I'm a massive GOT fan; I think it's the best thing on TV, possibly ever, but.... SW is a very different beast. It should be borne in mind that GOT is an adaptation of a pre-existing book series, so they can't take the credit for the world-building; also, they have a brilliantly talented production crew working with them, which is the main reason GOT is so good. However, as soon as the show moved beyond the books, some of the writing was a bit sketchy with the sort of logical fallacies that some have been critical of TLJ for.

That's not to say that I don't still love the show, but I can see some very similar problems when they are given more control over the actual story. In the last series of GOT, they did a pretty thorough character assassination of Littlefinger and did some pretty ropey stuff with Arya and Sansa. As with TLJ, I'd be worried that, whilst the end product may look visually stunning, the story may let it down somewhat.

Also, the growing criticism of the lack of female and non-white writers and directors has led to a lot of criticism of this decision. At the end of the day, if the end product is terrific then all is forgiven, but I will continue to have my reservations at this stage.

    ^ Ditto.

I almost expect them to tackle the Sith Empire era. Could we finally be getting some live action Darth Bane after a bunch of movies? Maybe a plotline concerning the prophecy of the Chosen One?

Possibly more than that! They haven't said it's a trilogy... Or have they?

Its probably more likely to destroy KOTOR, making it obsolete in the long run. :(

Yes, that's what we'll be getting. Star Wars porn. A completely reasonable prediction. Star Wars porn. Not hyperbole at all. Star Wars porn. Coming to a Disney store near you. I'm sure the stockholders are salivating at the prospect.

Considering they put at least one sex scene in every episode of Game of Thrones, I can see them doing something kinky to Star Wars.

Their films aren't going on HBO, and their source material this time around isn't "kinky" - I doubt we have anything to worry about.

I think this new series will be streaming-only. Which makes sense, Disney wants content for their new service.

Not a chance in hell that Disney would allow them to put sex in Star Wars. They may do something R rated, but more due to violence than anything else.

    Theatrical will be Rian's.

    IMHO.

Star Wars will not go R so nothing kinky should appear.
