Oh I agree, but mostly because Cantina Band is so utterly iconic that it's almost a bit sacred and I try not to listen too often. Cantina Band #2 has similar swayings but isn't as highly exposed. A bit more enjoyable for a casual listen.

I haven't been posting much. Had carpal tunnel surgery just over a week ago and I did not realize how disabled I was going to be. Just the last few days I've been able to type for more than a short while.

I feel you man. If it ever gets too stressful for you, I am here to talk - I went over a year between my last legit job and my current one, so I know how brutal it can be.

Thanks! It's a slow slog. A few leads, a few have come and gone. Lots to apply for today.

John Williams turns 86 years old today. Let's celebrate by playing his music all day.

Great cue! I love the subtle use of male choir in the mounting dread when the Moon rises.

Yeah. I'm a huge fan of the A.I. score. One of my all time JW faves.

The duo figure skaters from China in the Olympics were dancing to "Across the Stars" from Ep II. I mean, sure the guy messed up and threw the gal across the ice but I'd know Across the Stars from anywhere, so they should totally win.

For ice skating, they should use "The Battle Of Hoth".

I've been doing this whole Marathon of Spielberg-directed films since January. The other day, I rewatched the much-maligned Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. I do like the film itself, but I've also been re-exploring the Crystal Skull score after my rewatch. I think I’ve undersold this score for a long time. I don’t think it’s as good as the other three, but it’s a lot better than I gave it credit for.

The Criterion Collection will be releasing the restored 1930 Technicolor film King of Jazz on March 27th (today/tomorrow) on Blu-ray and DVD. I found a video of Michael Giacchino introducing the film at its restoration premiere a couple of years ago. I don't know much John Williams info, but learned he has a brother, Don, who plays timpani in Giacchino's orchestra, among others. Don's earliest (uncredited) entry on IMDB is from 1977...... xylophone and timpani for Star Wars. Don and John's father was in Paul Whiteman's band, and their father and his bandmates would jam at their home when they were kids.

Holy smoke! Take a look at Don's list of credits:
