Hopefully we get the extra scenes from the novel to make it worthwhile

I was just about to make a thread for this

Anyway, I'm sick and tired of them taking various mediums and then immediately re-iterating them. We DON'T need this. Why not come up with an original comic series instead of just re-hashing the movie? We have the novelization that will give more content, and their is 30 minutes of deleted scenes coming when the Blu-Ray comes out (probably in April or May).

Because it would be " As if millions of nerds suddenly cried out in terror" if they didn't. There is a whole section of our fandom who continue to want these and to be fair, SW has done it since the beginning starting with 1977 film and have beem doing it then on.

I honestly could do without movie adaption comics myself but do realize there is a market for them.

The Rogue One one was much better than the TFA one (though I did just skim through a lot of the Rogue One comic as well). The TFA one was pretty much just a word for word adaption of the movie. And the dialogue for it didn't work nearly as well when you were just reading it as opposed to seeing it acted out onscreen.

I suspect the TPB for this series will have the DJ and storms of Crait one shot thrown in. That'll be a good bundle in my view.

I think the TFA adaptation was a bummer to newer fans who hadn't experienced how a good comic interpretation could open expand and build on a film. It would be a break from a long, long tradition if we didn't get a comic adaptation, so I'm glad this is on its way. (And let's face it - if you don't want it, you can always keep the money in your pocket.)

I'll give it a look for the deleted scenes, although I know for a fact I'll be skipping the Casino pages, plus any deleted scenes that involve it. :p

That wouldn't be the worst of it, if there's an issue that is nothing but the casino scenes, I can't be trusted to not set it on fire. :p

I'm looking forward to this and let me tell you, its true, there is a market for it. Star Wars is unique in that it gets the six issue treatment. Marvel Disney doesn't get that at all, just what two book adaptions? Star Wars is a well taken care of property. Can't wait for this.

It's tradition to have comic adaptations of the movies. I remember what made the original 1977 Star Wars and 1980 ESB comic adaptations so special to me was the inclusion of the deleted scenes so I'm hoping TLJ adaptation includes lots of those.

I would be more favorable to the adaptations if they at least started when the movie came out--trade-waiting on this means getting it like a year later.

I think it is great that Marvel continues to publish adaptations of these movies, even when they don't sell in big numbers initially as pamphlets. As others have said, this is a tradition that goes back to the original movie and I think it would be a shame if it stopped.

I am going to guess that Marvel has made more money off of these movie adaptations than all of the other Star Wars comics combined. I collector foreign Star Wars comics and Star Wars #1 - 6 are easily the most published comics around the globe beating out comics like Amazing Fantasy #15, Incredible Hulk #181, etc. New collections are seemingly published yearly somewhere in the world. Where Marvel makes money off the adaptation is with these various collections that are published 40 years later. Star Wars is like Marvel's equivalent of DC's Watchmen and The Dark Knight, these issues continually provide revenue.

For many Star Wars fans, Star Wars #1 - 6 are integral to their love of the movies much like the action figures. Our first glimpse of Biggs Darklighter's friendship with Luke, Jabba confronting Solo in Mos Eisley, and other cut scenes were in these comics. It didn't stop with the Star Wars adaptation either, because Star Wars #39 - 44 with The Empire Strikes Back adaptation continued the tradition. Who doesn't want to see the Wampa attack in the Rebel base after reading it in the beautifully drawn The Empire Strikes Back issues? As a kid, I remember talking about these discrepancies and pondering the possibilities these lost scenes provide. Our infatuation with the movies are that much richer because of these comics. I think it would be a disservice to not create these adaptations, as there are fans being created with every movie and they deserve to have the opportunity we had as kids.

My only complaint is these adaptations are not published concurrently with the movies opening in theaters as the previous poster mentions. I had a copy of Marvel Super Special #27 in my hands as I sat and watched Return of the Jedi for the first time. It added to the experience and that is missing today because Marvel doesn't publish the adaptation until 6 months after the movie is released.

I like my summer Star Wars movie marvel comic adaptations, on a nice night just sit outside and read through an issue or two!

I hope you do this. And then when you get to the porg roast scene, I hope there's someone having a barbecue nearby.

...hey why haven't there been any Star Wars "scratch and sniff" books? ...not like I'm asking to know what roast porg smells like... um....

I can see it. Makes me think of Luke giving Mara his saber in Last Command. And then I get sad.

The second one looks like the basis for a pinup poster. Maybe the cover to a "Blasters and Speeders" holo-magazine.

I love the comic adaptations of the movies, they're just part of the fun and experience of each new movie. I read Marvel's ANH and DH's TPM ones so many times as a kid!

I didn't find the TFA ones terribly engaging, but liked Rogue One a lot. At the very least, the covers of TLJ seem nice.
