This YA book by the author of The Girl of Fire and Thorns focuses on Alden Ehrenreich’s Han Solo and Emilia Clarke’s Qi’ra, back in their teenage years. “This is about the younger, young Han solo,” Siglain says. “We’ll see what it was like for these two kids from Corelleia to survive the seedy streets of this industrial world. They’re definitely products of their environment, and this story shows that.”

 

Cool. So by the description it sounds like the two grew up together. I'm a thinking that she definitely dies now by the end of the movie. That would go a long ways in explaining why Han acted real bitter towards Leia in the beginning.

The release of the Del Rey novel is taking all the hub bub away from this announcement.

 

I do wonder if she will be a love interest in the film, or with the whole growing up together they see each other as more like brother and sister.

So is her name officially spelled Qi'ra now? I thought it was Kira.

 

Kira was Rey's name before it was changed.

 

Apparently Han has feelings for her (or will develop feelings throughout the movie), but for some reason I doubt they’ll ever be an item officially.

 

This one, probably more than the others, is tied to the film for its success or lack of.

Han and Qi'ra don't have a lot in common other than not having a lot. They're street kids on the industrial planet Corellia, doing whatever it takes to get by, dreaming of something more. They each jump at a chance to prove themselves in the perilous world of Corellia's criminal underbelly, only to discover they are on the same mission for the same unscrupulous boss. I dunno, I think it would make more sense for Qi'ra to live after betraying him. Having a lifelong friend do that would realistically leave Han bitter and reluctant to care for anyone besides himself and Chewie.

Other way around- Qi'ra says "I know" right before she dies. Which makes Han's line in ESB more emotional since it'll make it seem he thinks he's about to die and not see Leia again

 

So why in the trailer is he talking to her about flunking out of the Academy as if she doesn't know him?

 

Because trailers lie.

 

What makes you think he was talking to her at that moment?

i have a feeling this book is going to be another Lost Stars type book which im okay with. Lost Stars was awesome.

He's in the speeder speaking to her?

 

He isn't; it's voiceover. It's a common trailer trick to associate narration with particular scenes, which may not actually be connected in the film itself.

 

Are you sure? Looks like he's saying it to her.

 

...I mean just watch the trailer again. It's voiceover. His mouth isn't moving.

Also, based on what we know of the plot, the speeder scenes with Qi'ra are towards the start before he joins the Flight Academy, so he can't be talking about being kicked out of the Academy in that scene.
