Books Star Wars: Last Shot by Daniel Jose Older (Out on Apr 17, 2018)

Oh thank god.

 

Yay, Lando and Han novel! No idea about the author, but excited for all the focus on Lando. Even if Cloud City is involved again somehow.

 

I took a quick look at the list of books on Amazon UK by him. I don't think I've read any of them.

 

I hope we get some Wing Guard action. I've always been a fan of them.

 

He did have a story story in FACPOV.

Edit - he wrote 'Born in the Storm'. That one was pretty good.

 

I'm reading these words, but they just don't make any sense.

 

I hope we'll know what Lando is doing during ST, but not in this book (seems like it will show at most 4/5 years after ROTJ)

One minor question regarding the above excerpt: Would a 2 year old (or 2.5 year old) child still prevent parents from getting normal sleep? I don't have my own children yet, my I have nieces and nephews ranging from nearly 2 years old to 6 years old, and I am not aware of this being a problem after the first few months. Not to nitpick or anything, but just genuinely curious.

 

Would Ben still be "tiny" at the age of 2.5? He should be around 35, 37 inches, which is "small" but not "tiny".

 

"Little Ben looked up groggily, those dark eyes settling on Han, studying him. Han had no idea how a two-year-old could have such ancient eyes. It was as if Ben had been waiting around for a millennium to show up at just this moment in history."

Adorable! Daddy Han is the best. The image of Ben falling asleep on him is super cute.

Interesting that he isn't running a shipping company yet, and it sounds like he only recently became leader of the Pilot's Commission? He didn't have a job in Empire's End, so was he a stay at home dad for the first two years of Ben's life?

I'm guessing by the end of the book he realizes he misses the adventuring life and quits his job as leader of the Pilot's Commission and starts his shipping company.

Also wonder why Leia wasn't sleeping in the same bed as Han at 4:30 in the morning?

 

Just got done with a week of 2.5 hrs a night with my 23 month old. She has the flu, but normally she wakes us up once a week. Around 3 AM is her favorite time to need to be tucked back in.

Our 5 year old still occasionally wakes us up because she is thirsty or needs to go to the bathroom. More along the lines of once a month at this point.

My 5 year old is small. My 2 year old is still tiny. If both got lost in a crowd, I would be nervous about the 5 year old. Straight panic for the 2 year old.

Worth noting that "tiny" is not a discrete unit of measurement.

 

April 17th is my birthday. And I preordered my copy from Chapters Indigo right here in Canada.

 

It'll be great to see a new Brian Daley Han Solo-type adventure in the new canon. I hope there will be two sequels to this to form a trilogy like the original Brian Daley Solo trilogy.

Lando got punchy! However I guess it was a few years coming after Han sucker punched him in Cloud City. It'd be funny if Lando was totally okay with everything but just got drunk on some space Colt .45 and decided Han needed a years later comeback.

 

No, of course not. ^^ It's just that one tends (I tend?) to use what I know as a reference, and I guess kids in family tend to be tall.
