    Veni. Vidi. Bibi?

I'll defer to you if the Latin is grammatically correct.

    That is correct! Nicely done.

Here’s another: vivere est bibere (a pun on how some Spaniards pronounced Vs like Bs).

Tons. Ptolemy. Cleopatra. A bunch of kids from the main story. Bayek. Aya. Ptolemaic or Roman soldiers. Commoners and nobles. There are 25 total.

    Wait what

It's anybody's guess whether this will ever actually exist (remember that supposed Ringworld miniseries? Me neither), but still.

    Speaking of podracing games:

Yeah, when I saw this my immediate thought was, "This is a strange thing for Amazon to do alongside Ringworld."

But I'm not worrying for Ringworld yet. It's only been a few months since Amazon announced they were working on it, so it's not like it's entered "swept under rug following years of development hell" there yet like it endured at Syfy (where it was in limbo for over a decade); and with the Culture series it could focus a lot more on the politics and, well, culture rather than the Big Dumb Object aspect that Ringworld mainly is.

That being said while I love both Culture and Ringworld... Ringworld is a book that is very special to me, one of my cousins gave me her copy when I was a kid when our grandfather died and I've read it almost every year since, I've been waiting almost decades by this point for one of the adaptations to actually continue beyond the announcement, so if it comes down to one or the other, I'm rooting for Ringworld.

Well, huh - I actually had no idea this had happened and was referring to the Syfy development hell.

Hey, so, you know Iris West? Pretty famous, she's on a tv show, dates the Flash? You want to know what ends up happening to her?

Forced to watch the bloody execution of her own children as resisters to a despotic regime.

    Damn, DC. You harsh.

Earthgov? You telling me that President Clark had them executed? Were they working with Captain John Sheridan?

I'm sure the official word out of EarthDome is that they were deranged monsters who, each night for fun, would strangle ... uh ... pah! What are those Earth creatures called? Feathers, long bill, webbed feet…go "quack"?

Ok changing subject, Iv finally started watching The Expanse and it is good fun but I noticed the Jamaican accents in Space can be a little bit selective depending on who the Belter is though ?

I guess Belters are supposed to be diverse (lots of slightly different cultures & communities strewn around far-flung rocks), and with Ceres being a major port you'd expect different accents. (The patois itself with its way-too-clean loanwords from too many different languages never really made sense to me, though.)

I'm reading the books the series is based on right now, and they're really good. I like how each volume goes so much farther than the one before, and for the most part they're extremely well paced & condensed while still being atmospheric. Space opera at its best.
