Considering how they wrote the OT3, I'd rather not see Lando at all in the ST.

Sadly, Lando's Actor isn't like able anymore, still moving but not movie fit, maybe a one off scene.

If Billy Dee can dance with the stars, he can blow the hell out of the First Order from a battleship’s bridge. Or lead the galaxy from the Senate Hall. Or run an intergalactic casino that serves as the Resistance’s new secret headquarters. Or do all of these things while drinking BlasTech DL-44 Malt Liquor.

Clearly, his voice needs to be in Episode IX.

They were able to get Carrie Fisher, who is very vocal about not giving a **** that her body has aged and gotten bigger, to get in movie shape for VII. Do you think they'd have trouble convincing Billy Dee to spend a few weeks on a treadmill?

I'd also love for them to try one more time to convince Denis Lawson to return. It could make perfect sense in-universe, too --- with Ackbar and the rest of the Resistance's command all blown into space, they need Wedge more than ever.

Every time he's on screen, it looks like a strong gust could both knock him over and shatter both of his kneecaps.

Then give him a sweet chair. A James Bond chair with hidden guns, a shield, rockets and a mini bar.

Yeah, it needs rockets. So he can keep up with the rest of the characters and always be in frame. Whenever Lando's not on screen, all the other characters should be asking "Where's Lando?"

Wow! I legitimately love hearing that. I hope they can find something for him to do at some point–if not in IX, then in some live-action TV series or movie somewhere down the line. The idea of seeing Wedge on the big screen again, even if for a brief appearance, is something I've always hoped for.

I thought the reason he was fired was because the last film he directed was the widely panned "The Book of Henry, which despite the whimsical looking poster, is about an 11 year old writing posthumous instructions for his mom on how to assassinate someone.

What a shocker that the origin for the "Lawson turned it down" rumor came from Devin Faraci. I had no idea he was the one who 'broke' that story back in 2014. Even ignoring the fact that he's a serial abuser of women, Faraci is like the case zero of these personality-centric internet reviewers who have absolutely no critical abilities and resort to bullying and badgering anyone who dares question them. I'm glad it's yet another (even if minor compared to everything else) brick fallen out of his edifice.

I think it would be cool if Wedge was the "military commander" in Episode IX. None of the characters we have established really make sense in that role, and "Admiral Antilles" has a nice ring to it.

I'd be happy to see Wedge and Lando in command, like when they were partners in command in DE.

Let's get that one guy back, too. The guy who was in Episode VII. He also played Danny Glover's detective partner in Saw. Admiral... Statura? Is that right? The guy who wasn't in Ep. VIII but apparently the Visual Dictionary said he fled the Resistance Base earlier than everyone else?

    And more Artoo.

And Billy Dee and Wedge. Just in case no one's mentioned them yet.

^ that guy @Jeff_Ferguson is talking about also played Miles on Lost and he's pretty good in anything so I hope he'll be back, in fact, I'd wager a few missing characters from TFA to TLJ might be back in JJ is doing it again, which means it's probable, nay likely, we'll see Snap and Jess Pava again.

Anyway, Luke, Poe and Rose (and BB-8!) were presenting on the Oscars and Oscar Issac was probably the one who was the most attuned to BB-8 being on stage which leads me to hope we actually get Poe and BB-8 together for the majority of Episode IX. Heck, I'd go so far to say out of all the pairings in the ST, Poe and BB-8 have the best chemistry.

Speaking of groups, I'm kinda hoping that Rey, Poe and Finn are together for a significant chunk of movie ala most of ROTJ/ANH. As much as Star Wars is about star warring, the crew chemistry is a huge thing and I think Abrams actually got a great cast chemistry with this bunch and hopefully they'll do more together. Maybe Poe and Rey will actually be together for more than a minute, that could be fun!

    Also more Connix! #hookedonconnix

Statura and Snap might be back because those actors have a personal connection to Abrams. Jess might be less likely to return, since she was probably among the group of TFA actors hired because TFA and Game of Thrones shared a casting director, plus it's possible her schedule for Netflix might conflict like it did with her GOT appearances.
