Evazan is alive? I thought the official databanks on the Star Wars website confirmed him dead?

The Databank is not always entirely trustworthy, and often its data is out of date. Both the newcanon Character Encyclopaedia, and the From a Certain Point of View anthology, confirm that Obi-Wan's slashes didn't actually kill him or Ponda Baba.

Wow, what an issue. The comedy, drama, sci-fi, fantasy and even horror elements are blended so well in this series, it's crazy.
Aphra's gang is slowly being killed off. I hope that Sister Six will make it though, she's my favourite of the bunch. And until now, I never thought I needed hutt clone troopers. Hutt. Clone. Troopers. The most awesome use of hutts since Knight Errant: Deluge. I've no idea who the head-in-a droid-gun-tube thingy Imperial is, but he's adequately ridiculous looking for this series in the best way.

    AWE. SOME. ISSUE.
    AWESOME ISSUE!

Just how cold and ruthless is Doctor Aphra? The reprogramming of Caysin who thanks her for repairing him and defends her to Tam saying she is being "nice"...oooh...that was ice cold. The freak show of inventions from the Tarkin Initiative was fantastic (agree with Spicer about the Hutt Clone Troops...hysterical, ridiculous and fascinating). Loved the dialogue between Aphra and Hera (who appears to be the only one who figured out what Aphra did to Caysin). I especially love the line..."It's lonely being you, isn't it?" Can't wait for the final issue of this series as I believe this may be the end of Triple Zero in a protocol droid shell (in other words, I think the matrix survives and the protocol droid gets destroyed). Also, the dynamic between Tolvan and Aphra is a lot of fun and engaging...what is the future of this "couple"? I also hope that Sister Six survives as she is the coolest of the crew. 2 more down from Aphra's gang with only Sister Six and Tam surviving. One question....what zapped the gun out of Hera's hands? I think Aphra knew Hera would shoot her as soon as she got her hands on a gun and programmed some electronic shock into her cuffs. Or was it the mutant Imps that showed up that shocked the gun out of Hera's hand? Great issue!

The view of the Hutts lower body is obstructed, but I suspect they are on some sort of track/rollers like a bulldozer. We shall probably see next issue.

Brutal issue! Loved Aphra geeking out over the reject tech.

I am CRACKING UP at the art in this panel. I had to make it into a reaction image.

Love Aphra in this one and Tolvan too, can't say the same for Hera though. Something's off in the way she's talking. Also you can definitively Gillen is the one who wrote this, I mean look at all the villains he created where they're half-organics and half-robotic and it wasn't that distracting at first but in this issue, it really has become silly. At least the art is good and I can follow the action. I love all those silly faces.

Hera has to be belligerent and overall less competent in this comic because she's not the protagonist. Who knows - she might be playing an angle here to see what the Tarkin Initiative is up to since the Death Star went kaput. I hope so. I'm all for the Rebels characters popping up elsewhere in canon - so long as they're not given disservice.
Aphra was hilarious as expected. Definitely some creepy stuff going on - I wonder if the head guy is someone we know?

Good issue. Yeah I felt that Hera seemed a little different as well but again like others have said she is just kind of playing a cameo role so she can't be outsmarting the main character of the series. We're also just going to have to accept that all these different writers aren't going to write characters all the same way so they are going to seem a little different when someone else writes a scene for them. When Aphra starts being written by other writers I imagine she will seem a bit different than she does here under Gillen's watch.

So Aphra just kidnapped Hera knowing the Rebellion would come after her which was just a distraction so she could get into the Hivebase? Kind of brilliant, but at the same time, why bring her along if she's going to be a threat the whole time. She should have been left on the ship, but I'm glad she wasn't because obviously we want her to come along and add her commentary. Where's Chopper?

I am assuming Chopper is with Jacen back on that training base. Would love to see a Jacen appearance. I thought they didn't make Hera out to be incompetent...she is the one who...
...figures out that Aphra "reprogrammed" Caysin, while the others don't seem to know that is the case. If Tam figures it out next issue, look out. And Hera did indeed get her hands on a gun, but I believe that Aphra anticipated that would happen and put some shock system into her cuffs (at least that was my impression...still unclear what zaps Hera at the end).

So, what's the story with Tam Posla, is he now a flat-out droid? He doesn't act like it nor does he seem to be regarded as a droid -- he's described in the R1 Visual Guide as a "lawman" and is in a romantic relationship with an organic (former organic, at least, who still seems to have his original personality intact). what's that all But particularly in #18, in "attack mode" I don't see *anything* organic about the guy. So... like, what's that all about?

I ask because I just stumbled across the fact that Posla actually DOES appear fleetingly in Rogue One, but not on the streets of Jedha as the VG would suggest. Instead he can be glimpsed among Saw's partisans, at one point with his helmet off and a fully human head. So that's a little bit of a continuity problem there.

I've enjoyed him and Bog in the series, though -- I mean, how Bog is able to think and talk is a real mystery, much less his torso being hollow enough to serve as a storage container, but that kind of whimsical stuff just seems to work in the context of this book.

the thing is, without his helmet, Tam can easily be labeled as Partisan Extra #6

IIRC the image actual image of the dude has him holding the helmet without wearing it. Admittedly the whole thing is so blink-and-you'll-miss-it that the story group basically *has* missed it, up until this day.

Possible albeit awkward retcon, Saw's gang includes yet another Milvayne Authority defector who happens to be hanging on Jedha. Kind of odd that some MA agents are human dudes and others are droids-who-don't-act-like-droids, but... could work.

Or... the guy at Saw's is a bounty hunter who just wears stolen Mandalorian -- erm, I mean, Milvaynian armor.

For anyone interested, "Unmasked Tam Posla" is clearly visible in the film in various shots from 0:38:20 to 0:38:49. He's actually one of the two Partisans who escorts Jyn through the base when she's brought in to see Saw.*

    * see what I did there? lol

Found Tam Posla in Jedha City just as the Dauntless was leaving.

He's the blurry guy directly on the right. This must be when he and Caysin Bog depart the city before its destroyed. After all, the Partisans are seeing that moment and haven't reached the Catacombs of Cadera yet (looks like another ten-fifteen minutes away from it).

I was wrong about my prediction of who would be on the Galactic Icon variant for Doctor Aphra #19...it will be Lando Calrissian! Qi'ra will be on SW #47 and Enfys will be on DV #16.

Hera reacts appropriately to the fact Aphra is about as trustworthy as Deadpool....and then is proven right.

After catching up on these comics and being thrown for one hell of a loop myself with...what Tam Posla was, I decided to try and track him down in Rogue One to see if there's any indicators of his true cyborg-y nature the few times we see him clearly.

The answer, as one might expect, is not really. He's just some guy with the Partisans, but I do believe it's definitely the same guy---those white mag pouches and his helmet are very distinctive. He might not have the helmet when we see him bringing in Jyn but he's carrying it when he runs like hell out of the base, and we see it on in a couple crowd shots a few seconds later.

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

So Posla is definitely human. And that guy is definitely the same person as the Posla portrayed in the visual guide, the costume is one-to-one the same. So how do we go from that to this?

What Posla was doing with the Partisans is easily explained---maybe he was working with them as quid pro quo, to get access to their intelligence networks within the Holy City and in exchange he helped them on his own. The spare parts stuck inside his body in the comic are way more of a stretch, but not utterly un-salvageable, for all we know most Milvayne Authority cops have a cybernetic beast mode installed and enabled at the end of their training. The lunacy that is his head is a bit harder to handwave away.

But it's not impossible---the Aphra comics take place a good amount of time after Rogue One, and Posla is still trying to continue his hunt for Evazan after Jedha---but who's to say he didn't succeed in the worst way possible? I'm thinking he found Evazan---and got captured by him and Ponda Baba in turn. Once they got their hands on him, they did their usual mad science thing, replaced his head with cybernetics a la the Decraniated and Caysin, and wiped his memories of actually tracking them down...and released him back into the galaxy to keep doing their thing. I'm not sure if Posla realizes he's been jacked up by them---maybe they reprogrammed his mind so he thinks he's always been like this---but Evazanian mad science is the best explanation I can think of for how he wound up like that.

Maybe Tam is like a T 800, with synthetic skin to make him appear human but actually he's a droid :p
    [IMG]

In all likelihood this is probably a contradiction, but one that doesn't matter much if at all, because Tam Posla is one of those blink and you'll miss him extras in Rogue One, and his depiction in the comic is pretty cool. So who cares.
