New 6" Black Series Coming From Hasbro

The wildest part is to see what retail prices were. That figure is obviously the same scale as 6" Black Series. Similar level of detail and articulation. Retailed for $7.99 in 2002.

Absolutely. When the Black Series was announced I was excited (I'd been wanting a 6" line for years) and I expected to pay $14.99-$15.99, but when the $19.99 price point was announced I was taken aback. I've collected the line, so advantage Hasbro, but I'm not sure any of the various factors (inflation, demand, cost of license) can account for the BS/Marvel Legends being 2 1/2 times the LOTR line @ retail.

 

To be honest, $19.99 would be a bit of a bargain for me. I live in Scotland (part of the UK) and the average price for a new Black Series figure here is £26 (British pounds). In terms of US dollars, that's about $34.

I still buy the figures, but I would buy more and spend more if the price point was a bit lower. I'm not sure what accounts for the higher price over here. Maybe it's import costs.

 

My local TRU (UK) charges around £25 for the more popular figures. However I've seen figures like stormtroopers for a bit cheaper.

 

$36.99 AUD is the price for TBS 6" single figures at TRU Australia stores.

 

Ooof. You've all guilted me into not complaining .

 

Found the Elite Praetorian Guard at the local Entertainer today and it was marked down to 1/2 price along with a bunch of older 6" black figures. So I got it for £11.

I think Kylo Ren's costume in The Force Awakens is way better than his costume in The Last Jedi. So.... I mixed the two using Unmasked Kylo and Throne Room Kylo. Head swap, saber swap, helmet.

And this custom Luke head from casting cave has pretty much made this one of my favorite Black Series. Feels like a mini hot toys

 

Think I may have to pick up some of those custom heads...

 

Oh yeah the custom heads are where its at. Old Boy and Casting Cave are flat out the best, bar none.
