Seems to be more akin to Dud Bolt, a Vulptereen.

I like the big cyclops boi at the gambling table. The alien design seems pretty unique here, and more varied than the species created for TFA or TLJ.

 

Always nice to see aliens that couldn't comfortably shop at the Gap.

 

That’s who I was thinking of. I really hope they have him be a Vulptereen. Need some PT aliens to show up.

I wonder if they are changing the rules of sabacc: https://screenrant.com/solo-a-star-wars-story-toys-products-from-hasbro/ The description says to score as close to 0 as possible, which doesn't sound like sabacc rules.

It seems from the toy leaks that winning the Falcon and making the Kessel Run are on here. Almost definitely freeing Chewie. Hmm, what else is left on the checklist?

Also have Enfys Nest and Qi'ra been seen together? Is this another Sidious/Palpatine situation?

Or maybe Enfys Nest is Han's mother.

Enfys: Beckett never told you what happened to your mother.

Han: He told me enough! He told me you killed her.

Enfys: No, I am your mother.

 

Y'know, for all of the lack of drama that Chewie is going to get crushed by the mountain ledge there, there could be a twist incoming we don't expect. He does. He dies. He's wasn't the 1st Chewie.

I really want every character in this film to be a Pyke. I love the Pykes so much!

 

Posla's an interesting choice because he's actually one of the few characters in NuCanon to already have continuity problems -- in the Aphra comic he's some kind of droid or barely-organic cyborg with a backstory that matches the R1 Visual Guide, but in his blink-and-miss-it actual appearance in R1 he's one of Saw's Partisans with an actual human head (Aphra-Posla doesn't have one).

I know I've banged on about this in several threads already, but if they're putting the guys in SOLO it's actually worth a mention this time!

I must have missed this. Do we see Tam's face in Rogue One? Isn't he always just masked, same as in Aphra?

Meh, different guy, I assume. We see Tam with his helmet on during the tank assault, and I don't see why he'd take it off when they're still in combat. Probably just reusing the costume.

So the toy info that came out says that Captain Lando is ready to retire from smuggling and become a full time cardplayer. Considering that Lando was still born 31 BBY in canon, that means he is 21 years old in the movie--and ready to retire from smuggling?? Was he a teen smuggler or something? A teen smuggling spice??

Absolutely he'd want to retire. He wins big in a sabacc game or a smuggler's run, he's set for a nice skyhouse for life.

My quote was more along the lines of Lando's smuggling career now taking place presumably in his teens. I guess we got teen bounty hunter Fett in the Clone Wars, but it's all becoming a bit much honestly.

For what it's worth, Lando's EU counterpart couldn't even fly properly at this age (he needed Han to teach him).

I'm not even sure Lando's EU counterpart was a smuggler? This new Lando seems less "cool" now and more like creepy teen drug pusher, the kind of guy you avoid in high school.

 

Why is everyone so weirdly young?

Lando is obviously mid thirties in ESB. I don't buy Donald Glover as 21 at all.

Well, the canon Star Wars Rebels: Visual Guide: Epic Battles says Lando is born circa 30 BBY (his Legends birth year wsa 31 BBY). And it's all one canon right? So, Donald Glover is 21 years old. They already did this before, with Jyn and Cassian's actors being 10 years older than their characters.

Yeah, it seems like Lando was never particularly meant to be a smuggler, but the EU just plonked him into that role a few times and it's become exaggerated since. I don't think it especially fits him, so maybe in canon he tries it for, what, six months, and decides he'd rather be a galactic entrepreneur instead.

It's more that I have trouble believing Lando developed the reputation he did and rose to prominence and ran cloud city by 31. I believe Jyn is young. Not sure what the canon status has to do with anything.
