Entry 16

I have been again very busy and not able to write that much in my diary. Mentoring takes time and investigating too.

Two days ago I was celebrating my 293th birthday when Major Semendiger came to my desk to congratulate me. With him was a dark haired youth with kind grey eyes.

He said ‘meet your new student Rostek Horn. He is one of our most promising students and you will find him quite challenging.’

I shook hands with him and told him more about myself and listened to Rostek.

He is friends with Nejaa Halcyon and showed me where he lives.

 

Saying your student is a challenge says as much for the mentor as anything. It is a vote of confidence.

 

Interesting twist. Wonder what the challenge is.

 

I hope I can be around for the upcoming updates!

Entry 17

Rostek is a great student, catching up quickly.

He writes the reports of our missions. I instruct him to add a flimsy with the Corellian news of the day. That’s great for historians. Some reports are copied by him for studying.

I visit him often after duty in his nice home where he lives with his parents.

A week ago his mother was muttering. What happened?

Rostek had put his laundry – without cleaning his pockets – in the basket.

She had found a food-wrapper.

Rostek replied with a smile ‘not that bad as when I was a teenager.’

His mother got a dark look on her face and sent us away.

And that had me asking what had happened.

Rostek told me about the hydrospanner – used by him for tinkering with his speeder-bike – being forgotten and shredding the entire laundry. ‘I had a gleaming hydrospanner but a mom chasing me to my room.’

Yesterday – after tea at Rostek’s – I went to the shopping mall in a suburb of Coronet City where I met Nejaa Halcyon. He introduced me to his girl-friend Scerra Lanar.

Rostek likes her too. But I think that Nejaa will be the guy for her.

 

Pranking with the spanner had some unwanted consequences Love the name Scerra And glad she and Nejaa are a couple and Rostek is OK with it.

Entry 18

Bacta; terrible Dunai elder hating stuff, Yeah a surgeon not knowing about that had put me after surgery in a bacta-tank to recover rapidly from two wounds inflicted by metal slugs. One slug was in my right shoulder and thet other one messed up with my right lung. I was saved by Jono Bel Hana – sensing my distress – and Nejaa Halcyon – sensing Jono – and speeding him and Rostek to the hospital. After that bacta-disaster I had a second surgery to remove all bacta from me. I was covered in rashes, was wrapped in bandages and put on a respirator as they call it here. Corellians are a bit old-fashioned calling a ventilator that. The tube is gone now but I am with a breath-mask and residing in a beeping thingies room. I tried to argue with surgeon Dick Frost and anaesthetist Nick Remick about getting me to a normal room but no. And arguing with Jono about going to my student Rostek Horn didn’t help either. Jono brought my diary saying ‘that will have you busy.’

Ah, you want to know how I ended up here in the hospital. Three days ago I was with Rostek on the shooting range when the PA system called us. I fully expected trouble and told Rostek to put his CDEF-blaster in its holster. We went to the briefing room and went with the team to an apartment in the Corumag-district. Bugs were everywhere when we entered the apartment where a dead woman – Aira Dorsetti – was on the floor. Lydia was sure that the death – still to be determined – was unnatural.

I was present with Rostek and Jono during the autopsy and got a darrin dark bad feeling about it.

Rostek got a clue that it was about holocrons and Sith holocrons especially. And that Sith holocron was sold by Dorsetti to the art-collector Koro Zavala living in Hollowtown. As we were discussing this Major Semendiger came in and told us that a team was needed in Hollowtown because Koro Zavala was murdered. We boarded a corvette and headed to Centerpoint station and the settlement called Hollowtown. At CorSec headquarters Hollowtown we met Captain Eustache and her coroner Bill Posey. We went to the Zavala estate where we met the gardener.

Inside the estate we discovered the corpse of Koro Zavala with a knife in his chest. The cause of death was clear and the why too. The place was tossed and holocrons were littering the floor. But there was something very dark and sinister giving Jono and me the shivers. Jono discovered something near the corpse, cursed and it – a double pyramid shape – skittered away and touched my my boot. I was still grumbling when Major Semendiger and Captain Eustache entered. A positive ID was gained from the fingerprints. The major left with the captain to arrest the criminals, a well known Hollowtown-gang.

I stayed with Jack and Rostek to collect the fake holocrons, important for our Dorsetti-case. And Rostek saved me when he saw a flash. Ah a nurse is here. I have to stop.


Second entry

The nurse must have slipped something sleepy in my IV. I woke up minutes ago to see my diary on the nightstand. You want to know how Rostek saved me?

He threw himself against me when he saw the first flash but couldn’t prevent a second slug entering my shoulder.

Jono and Jack took care of me. Jack used his medical skills and Jono his dunai powers to keep me stable until I was whisked into an ER.

Jono was there to wake me and tell me all about what had happened after the surgery.

 

Harrowing adventure but glad Jack and Jono were on hand

 

The Jack and Jono story sounds somehow familiar...

Sorry dat ik er eerder geen tijd had om iets te schrijven. Was veel in het ziekenhuis de afgelopen dagen en ben vanavond te moe & opgewonden om fatsoenlijk te slapen. Ik zal je nog post aan jouw nieuwe adres sturen.

Entry 19

Rostek was here to tell me about the slugs dug out of my lung and shoulder. They were coming from a militairy grade sniper-rifle. He told me that they couldn’t find the sniper and the rifle. After I had been transported to the hospital, with Semendiger staying at Centerpoint station there had been a wrecked police speeder with the remains of a corpse but no evidence of who the officer had been. Hollowtown had no missing officers.

Rostek muttered ‘another mystery to add to the missing holocrons.’

I am eager to leave the hospital but Rostek told me I wasn’t good to go.

And no he didn’t want to participate in my escape-plans. And he told me that the entire CSI-team is notified ‘don’t listen to Magaron. I have heard of his famous escape-plans. No way let’s keep him in the hospital.’

Hmm maybe that nice nurse that will be changing the IV-bag in a moment will have ideas to get me out of here. The alarm is beeping. I have to stop. She is coming.

 

Steve eager to escape, although I do not blame him in the slightest! Rostek sounds totally frustrated with the mystery on top of mystery.

 

Rostek muttered ‘another mystery to add to the missing holocrons.’

Great, mysteries that need urgent solving! I am with you!

Entry 20

Yesterday was my release from the hospital.

My right arm is still supported by a sling. Entering number 20 in my diary is a bit awkward using only my left hand but a lot has happened today.

I have been at CorSec with Rostek watching evidence of the Dorsetti case. I couldn’t find any evidence that she didn’t commit suicide but am left with a very uneasy feeling. And the wrecked police speeder with the dead officer has me with an idea that the dead man has been a partner of the missing sniper and his missing rifle.

Jono and Nejaa came into the room when we were watching pictures of the holocrons.

Nejaa identified a genuine Jedi-holocron and hopes that the thieves don’t see the real value and will sell it again, making it possible for the Jediknights to retrieve the valuable holocron.

He took copies of the pictures.

Rostek asked him if he was leaving again.

Nejaa told him that he was at CorSec for the graduation-ceremony of Rostek and to see Scerra and tell her about the Jedi-youngling he had rescued and brought to Coruscant.

Nejaa told me all about Djon V’Ima, an orphan he had found on Corellia.

When he was telling this Scerra arrived.

I could see the love radiating from them.

Semendiger was the next to arrive to herd us to the party where Rostek became a CorSec officer.

I am proud.

 

I am proud.

The candles have arrived with your nice card. I have sent you a reply. Tomorrow will start the second chemo of the six I have to take to get rid of the remaining nasty cells. After the chemo I have 5 weeks of radiation-therapy.

Entry 21

Nejaa and Scerra married yesterday. Rostek and I were the witnesses.

Rostek had ideas for a bachelor-party for Nejaa but with Nejaa and his Jedi-senses it wasn’t a surprise at all. Nejaa knew all we had planned.

And I think he played along giving us and the colleagues at CorSec a great day with a powerboat race on Firwood-lake, a paintball-game on an island in the lake and after that a big party at the marina.

Scerra had of course her party and no I don’t know what they have been doing.

Entry 22

Busy, busy yes I have been very busy during the years. Has it been 20 years already since Nejaa and Scerra’s marriage? Yes.

My friend Jono Bel Hana was yesterday promoted to captain of CorSec.

Nejaa and Scerra were there of course and another Corellian Jedi, Hems Oilosse. Hems has been knighted 19 years ago and returned to Corellia after that. He has joined CorSec and is a field-agent, residing most of his time in Cormond.

 

Wonderful that time has flown with great things: promotions and happy family stuff Correllia is the best place for Jedi
