Unfortunately this probably a big block in the road to having a Kenobi movie anytime in the near future. But as well received as Glover seems to be in portraying Lando it does make sense.

 

Ok some more updated articles have come out. Looks like a journalist didn't quote Kathleen Kennedy correctly and what really happened is that she just said that doing a Lando movie was something they would like to do in the future but it isn't necessarily the next standalone being planned.

I want a Lando movie.

Yeah, for the (entertainment) blogs and websites that just repost and oftentimes misrepresent what someone said in an actual interview with an actual journalist.

There are thousands of hard-working, good journalists out there. They're underpaid, overworked, forced into multiple platforms, and covering a hundred things that used to have an actual beat reporter to cover. They're trying to inform people in a world where feelings matter more than facts. They're working in the increasingly shrinking small town newspapers, local TV, local radio. They need your support.

If they do go do a Lando movie, I'd like to be the Battle of Taanab (assuming it's not in the Solo movie). All the depictions of Lando, both in Legends and canon, focus way too much on his scoundrel/gambler side and not his military credentials. There has to be a reason the Alliance chose Lando to lead their all-out attack on the Emperor himself about Death Star 2. A Battle of Taanab movie would be the perfect way to show Lando's military prowess, and even Legends never depicted this battle except in obscure RPG Adventure journals--it was never in a novel, comic book or video game.

 

Maybe this is what Enreich was alluding to when he said he's signed up for more than one film

Going by Rebel Files, Mon Mothma originally wanted Luke to do it - but Ackbar proposed Lando instead, with testimony from Nien Nunb being partly what convinced Ackbar.

 

I know this may be controversial because of the placement but what about Shadows of the Empire starring Lando, instead of Dash Rendar. What I mean is Lando maybe w/ Chewbacca (and possibly cameos by Luke, Leia and the droids) tracking down Boba Fett to Tatooine.

 

They should just do Shadows of the Empire as an animated film. It might just be too much of a clash to have Lando in ESB be Billy Dee, turn into Donald Glover for Shadows, then turn back into Billy Dee in ROTJ. And that's not even getting into how they will deal with Luke and Leia.

Star Wars casting values actor continuity higher than in other franchises like, say, James Bond; thus the debate on how to handle Leia in 9 for example.

 

Yeah it was definitely a bit of inventive journalism, but this has to be coming soon regardless. There's no doubt. Even if Solo was divisive, everyone loves Glover as Lando, if you think Disney are going to miss out cashing in on him then you're nuts

 

He is as "It" as one can be right now.

Agreed. Glover is on track to be huge, and if they lock him in for another movie, they'll be rolling in cash and good-will before long.

 

I mean, I'm more confident with him as a lead than Ehrenreich.

 

I would prefer a Kenobi stand alone first... In the vein of the Kenobi novel.

I want a sort of Western/Samurai story of Kenobi on Tatooine.

 

Either would please me greatly.

I'm totally okay with more Lando with Glover playing him but if we get more Lando with Glover in prequels and no Episode IX Billy Dee Williams Lando, I'm going to %$@$^^ my $^%$@^ and %^%#@^@$^

 

I've heard Chewie actually comes out of Solo more impressive than Lando or Han.

 

If true, that's wonderful news. He always got short-changed in the old EU. And yes, I realize that out-of-universe he's effectively the family dog (literally, given what George Lucas based him on). But in-universe, he's still just as much a character as Han and Lando, just not one that authors wanted to explore.

That sounds painful. Now I'm really hoping for BDW Lando in Ep9 - for the sake of your $^%$@^ if nothing else!
