Can I get a KRIFF YES!

The first new-canon reference book focusing on aliens is coming this November. We know nothing about it as yet bar the title and the name of the illustrator, but really, who cares? The Essential Guide to Alien Species lives! And quite frankly given that the new movies have dumped a ton of unidentified background aliens on us (esp. at Canto Bight), the time was right for this.

I so badly wanted a book like this, but it’s illustrated by the same guy who "illustrated" the Galactic Atlas. Yuck.

I actually liked that book. It's not the best detailed art, but it's distinctive and visually interesting.

While the catalogue cited in the original post is for the UK edition, I have it on good authority that a US edition will arrive nearly simultaneously. :)

Even though I may not be the biggest fan of the artist they’ve chosen for this, I do like the fact that its seemingly going to be made up of actual illustrations, instead of just stills from the films or publicity shots. For any “in-universe” reference books, I prefer actual drawings instead of shots from the films.

Even if it's not in-universe, I'm always a sucker for Star Wars art.

I wonder if they can use this to reconcile the two contradictory accounts we have of Crolute mating habits.

Not that I necessarily WANT to picture Crolutes having sex, of course.

Not a big fan of the art, but it could be worse. Seems like it will be quite in-depth:

    Not a single Separatist.[face_not_talking]

I will probably still get it and love it because it's aliens. But. The point remains.

The Bith were Separatists (in Legends), but that's a pedantic note on a legit observation.

Once again, the source of every single pic is easily identifiable. Take the Ewok, for example: it's THE most used Wicket image ever. I wish we had an alien guide illustrated like this:

To be fair, that's just the cover; interior illustrations may be more like your example.

Perhaps. I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt. But given what the illustrations in the Galactic Atlas turned out to be, I'm not holding my breath.

Let's just hope the internal dates are more accurate.

Kamino took place in both 22 and 21 BBY while Wat Tambor was captured in 22 BBY but Ryloth was liberated in 21 BBY.

The Galactic Atlas is one of my favorite things from the new canon, so I can't wait to get a look at this.

22/21 BBY is not ... the least messy period of canon chronology, put it like that. There are a couple of inaccuracies in there because we just screwed it up, and a couple because I think the timeline just isn't clear.
